Isley continues to battle the Abyss Feeders in the village while Helen, Deneve, and Dietrich talk about the Abyss Feeders and what to do next.Summary:Surrounded by the Abyss Feeders, Isley tries to regenerate his left arm but is interrupted by one of his adversaries. Isley knocks the lone Abyss Feeder to ground and decapitates with a kick. Two more Abyss Feeders make a move and Isley slices them to pieces, but the Abyss Feeders quickly regenerate. After noting that it has become harder to decapitate these monsters, Isley forms a sword in his right hand to fight back the next attack. On the hill some distance away, Dietrich continues to explain about the Abyss Feeders. The Abyss Feeders are created in groups of elevens, and if more than half are defeated then they are programmed to return back to the Organization. The Organization then creates new Abyss Feeders using Awakened Being flesh collected from Claymore hunts. Pursuing these demons are very difficult as they don't emit yoki and they are programmed to scatter in different directions. Dietrich states that even if Isley wants to track them down he can at most hunt down one of them, and the other four will return to home base where their minds are synchronized with the newer demons. In this way the Abyss Feeders become stronger and more experienced every time they fight. After hearing Dietrich's explanation, Helen and Deneve finally understand why Isley is hiding out among humans as it's harder for Abyss Feeders to track his scent. Dietrich states that this must be the reason, but however Isley's efforts amounts to little more than buying time. Dietrich notes that this time the demons might finish Isley for good as it's been short period since the last time he was attacked, which means he didn't have much time to regenerate from past injuries. Deneve suddenly suggest to Helen that they should put their homecoming on hold and meet up with Clare's in the west and get Cynthia to regenerate Helen's eye. Deneve then asks Dietrich if the Abyss Feeders can be used to target any Awakened Being, and Dietrich answers yes. Helen and Deneve remember that there was a piece of Riful's flesh left at the scene when they rescued the Claymores from Riful, and the Organization probably got their hands on that. Dietrich states that they should hurry to the west as the Organization probably sent another pack of demons after Riful. Suddenly, the three feel a shift of yoki in the air and they realize that Isley is going to fall.Isley's last "stand".Inside the ruins of the village, Isley has slain four more demons, but he has lost three of his legs and he eventually collapses to the ground. In an last-ditch effort, Isley throws his sword at an approaching Abyss Feeder but fails to decapitate it. As the Abyss Feeders converge to feed on his body, Isley recalls leaving Priscilla and Raki to drive off the Abyss Feeders and how he, Priscilla, and Raki were like a family before that. Isley wishes that he could have spent more time with Priscilla and Raki and finally succumbs to his injuries. At the Organization headquarters, the handlers discuss about Dietrich's team. The Organization has recovered the other three Claymores and confirmed that the target Awakened Being was slain by Dietrich with the assistance of an "unknown" party. High-ranked member Rimuto asks if Rubel knows anything about these "unknown" parties, and Rubel states that he was knocked out during the encounter. Rubel changes topics and suggests that recovering Renee from Riful should be the top priority at the moment. Rimouto states a group of Abyss Feeders has already been dispatches, but he surprises Rubel by stating that the demons are nothing more than guides for Claymore No.1 and No. 2, Alicia and Beth. The twins are back!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Isley actually died... that was a bit surprising, but I guess he was pretty worn out from being pursued by these demons endlessly for several years. Based on what Dietrich had said, the Organization certainly created a very useful set of troops in the Abyss Feeders. The way they work is really ingenious now that I think about it. The demons work in groups, scatter if things look bad, are hard to pursue, and comes back stronger every time. These characteristics make them perfect for hounding very strong but lone enemies like Isley. Even if Isley didn't get defeated, he might have died just from the frustration and exhaustion of having to fend off these things and having them come back stronger than ever time after time. The Organization loves their new toys as expected, but Claymores like Dietrich don't seem nearly as pleased. It's funny how Dietrich is still hanging out with Helen and Deneve even though she verbally stated/implied that she would never betray the Organization. I guess Dietrich just doesn't want to leave her new friends, and of course hanging out with Helen and Deneve is magnitudes better than hanging out with the mindless demon sluts. One thing that didn't make sense to me after reading this chapter was that Isley decided to leave Priscilla and Raki to handle the Abyss Feeders alone (at least that's my understanding of the situation). Priscilla is stronger than Isley and so having her around would have definitely helped. And whatever happened to all of Isley's Awakened Being subordinates? I'm pretty sure Isley and Priscilla plus a few more Awakened Beings would have no trouble killing 11 Abyss Feeders and not letting any of them escape. Hopefully we'll get an explanation on this. Now that Isley is finally humped to death by his groupies, it looks like Riful is now the main target of the Organization. Riful might be in trouble even if the Abyss Feeders were sent in by themselves, but she is definitely in a bind now that Alicia and Beth have been dispatched as well. Miss No. 1 and No. 2 finally made their reappearance after the time skip (after I wondered about them in my last Claymore post), and there's no doubt that they are a lot stronger than they were before. It looks like everything is converging at Riful's hideout as Clare and Dietrich's groups are headed that way as well, and of course there is that Pandora's Box known as Rafaela/Luciela that Riful is playing with. Yagi-sensei definitely knows how to build up the anticipation. I can't wait to see what happens when all these different groups collide together. It should be one hell of a fight.
