Better than expected. Valmet’s situation was actually handled better than I expected. I was on the precipice of calling a hypocrite; she was extremely similar to the rival. They both dedicate their lives to serving one person, Valmet to Koko, and Karen to the Major. Karen killed Valmet’s squad because she was ordered to do [...]

So much laughter this week…First the serious, though. Despite all of the buildup from last week, Karen turns out to be a mere insect before the might of Valmet…she gets totally owned. Jonah also continues with his “take charge” attitude…that was pretty cool. Boy’s grown up so fast (wipes away a tear). Also, Koko shows [...]

Episode: Jormungand Episode 7
The mission in hand may be all about beating Chang's troops in the race to reach Doctor Miami, but for Valmer things have just gotten decidedly more personal.
Once she spots Chang's assistant, and more specifically her combat style, something breaks in Valmer as it takes her back to a turning point in her life - a turning point which, of course, came in the middle of a warzone as she saw her

And that’s how you walk away from a dinner with the head of a ex-army Chinese mafia boss out to strangle you. Bonus points for convincing the American do it for you. For free. Also; >bullet in ass >doesn’t afraid of surgery >doesn’t got for either because INJECTIONS ARE SCARY MAN. Jonah, oh you~ ©2012 [...]

For a series about arms dealers weaving a worldwide trail of destruction in their search for more customers, Jormungand avoids pulse-pounding violence and reckless gunfire with almost admirable dedication to uphold the standards of the anticlimax. I was almost ready to chalk it up as another episode that failed to hit the mark, throw [...]

Silly Scarecrow, Trix are for kids.
I’m going to go ahead and guess that this anime would not be the most popular one of this season because of it’s very episodic nature and “plot hole” feeling that some who haven’t read the manga would be feeling. Certainly the expectations after episodes 4 and 5 [...]

Though the frequent skirmishes, provocative action sequences, and persistent use of modern weaponry are the principal attractions of Jormungand, it is actually the business of selling weapons that drives this anime. And though there is this constant reminder of how the effects and influence of guns are what shape the world, there’s that required step [...]

The translation for this episode was a little delayed, so the episode entry has to be delayed too. Like as I expected of it, it gives us more espionage and arms dealers politicking just in this single episode. If Sakamichi no Apollon offers realism in drama, Jormungand offers realism in assault combat, espionage, and politicking. [...]

Anybody else think this episode took forever to sub??? I felt like I was waiting around all day for it to be subbed, maybe I better learn Japanese and start watching raw episodes. It probably felt like it took forever because last weeks episode left off at such an amazing time, a fight between Valmet [...]

05/23/2012 03:14 PM UTCJormungand's Koko Hekmatyar bothersome surname >>
While I watching this anime, Koko's surname bothers me a lot so I decided to get off my lazy ass and check it. Turns out to be why, I heard this name before during ending phase of Cold War, in Afghanistan specifically. What a piece of nasty work, this guy is 100 percent bona fide treacherous Afghan warlord. Still alive and kicking, fighting NATO in Afghanistan now.

Through six episodes now, the content of Jormungand has essentially been episodic with barely a handful of hints indicating a central or overarching plot. Everything thus far has either been disconnected stories or timely flashbacks presented to us in a seemingly linear timeline. While acceptable in genres where stories are secondary to other elements, such [...]
