I have been waiting for this “Special Edition” to be announced ever since the anime ended. Not that I want to watch it, but because something like this will always be released after a Gundam series is finished; it is fate. So what exactly is this Special Edition? A recap of the entire series of course! It will come out in three parts, first one being called “Celestial Being”, then “End of the World”, and then “Return of World”. They will feature some new footage and some re-recorded dialogue, but everything else is going to be the same.  These are great for people who don’t actually want to sit through the entire series, but still want to have the Gundam 00 experience. I usually disdain this type of special, but they are not all bad. For example, the first Gundam movie trilogy, which does the same thing, is a lot better than actually sitting down and watching all the episodes of the original series. They are going to be released straight to DVD and Blu-ray. The first being released on October 27. [via ann]
