The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
, briefly director of
Lucky Star
, and total director of
Kannagi
, is moving into
directing his first live-action film
.
Don't worry, he's not going too far from his roots: the project is an adaptation of a romantic comedy light novel titled Watashi no Yasashikunai Sempai, or "My Not-Nice Sempai," by author Akira. The 2005 novel revolves, as you might have guessed, around a high school girl on a tiny island with a crush on an older student. She tries to write him a confession leter, only to have it discovered by another upperclassman, and chaos ensues. The lead, Yamako Iriomote, is set to be played by Umika Kawashima, a 15-year-old idol from the group 9nine.
Who wants to take bets on whether Yamakan will find a way to plug some dancing into the flick?
