We started yesterday with the first episode of Saki , which you can still catch right here if you missed it. I was always interested in the show but never got around to it-- and some people clearly thought I disliked the show since I was rooting against it in SaiMoe! Just to state once again for the record: I don't have anything against the show, I was just rooting for a more interesting competition. ^_~   I found myself surprised by a couple of characters-- I really like the student council/club president, and I was also expecting a different kind of character from Nodoka. Somehow I expected her to be kinda bitchy, not sort of the well-mannered, possibly wealthy sweet type. I was also expecting there to be a bit more of a mahjongg 101 feel to the first episode, but alas, no such luck!    Just to bring everyone up to speed: it has just been proven that the titular Saki is capable of forcing herself into a neutral score pretty much regardless of the scenario, which is perhaps more incredible a feat even than winning every time. The result is that Nodoka, the resident champ, feels...perhaps not personally threatened, but slightly desperate to beat her, while the club pres clearly wants to recruit Saki.
