Almost every other shonen anime shows has had a movie under their belts, yet
Gintama
has never had the opportunity. Good things come to those who wait, and since Gintama has been good boy this year, they will receive a full-length film in 2010 during Golden Week. This film, named Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-Hen (Benizakura Arc - A New Retelling) will be a retelling of the Benizakura story arc from the anime. So they are playing it safe, but as they say, don’t fix what’s not broken.
Gintama, in my mind, is the little brother of all the other famous Shonen Jump shows. Those other siblings get all the fame and attention, while Gintama does it’s best to get noticed, especially in America. Well, I’m telling you now to push aside all those other shows, and watch Gintama. It’s like the Simpsons meet
Kenshin
and Star Wars, with an extra helping of parody. You can watch it now at
Crunchy Roll
, so go get on it. I did, and I’m pissed at myself for waiting this long to watch it.
