Let's see, from the Guardian via Zichi via the Jlist Twitter comes this news: After every James Cameron flick in the last decade, SOMEone thinks to ask if he's going to get around to making the Battle Angel movie. And every time, the answer is something to the effect of "maybe," and then he makes something else. We all are used to this cycle by now, right? But now there's yet another movie project to potentially compete with Battle Angel-- and this one is also related to Japan. The rumor is that James Cameron met with Tsutomu Yamaguchi, a survivor of the 1945 atom bomb blasts (and a "precious storyteller,") back in December. Yamaguchi died today, but the word is that Cameron has bought the movie rights to Charles Pellegrino's The Last Train to Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back. Of course, buying the rights doesn't mean it's going to get made right away, if at all, but it would certainly be a jump away from Avatar and T-2, and possibly back to the historical feel of Titanic (perhaps without the love story). I guess only time will tell. What do you guys think? I'd rather see live-action Alita, personally, but I'd still be interested in seeing Cameron's take on this matter, especially if he tried to incorporate remaining survivors into the writing or production. We'll rank this rumor at a 7/10.
