At last! The god of moe bestowed us the new season of K-ON. Many folks rejoice; others lament and spread their hatred. I will not talk about it, because there's no point in this debate. I'd rather tell you my impressions from the first episode.First of all, the opening and ending. In the first season of K-ON!, I took a liking to the ending the moment I saw the first seconds of it and liked it better than the opening. This time, it's the other way round. I fell for the opening in the first seconds when the camera was revolving around the girls playing their instruments and Yui was shouting "Crap! I can't stop! I won't stop!". And the title "GO! GO! MANIAC" absolutely fits the image of that song. As regards the ending, of course I did like it. I have a soft spot for Hikasa Youko's voice. But I guess it wasn't as powerful as the opening song, or the ending from first season. It all starts with Yui coming unusually early to school as she got wrong the time, so she plays Gitah and develops an ultimate technique for the welcoming concert.Everyone is in the same class; Mio will not be alone anymore. Coincidence? No, no. Sawa-chan arranged it so that she will have them all in her class. Kindness? No, no. Her main motive was to make it easier for her to remember all students in her class.Yui is trying to change her image now when she's a senior. No good, though.Everyone then gathers in gym and sing the school hymn. A while before that, Yui started to collect sakura petals.Azusa is keen on finding new club members, because when everyone graduates she will be left alone and the club might even be disbanded. Ritsu jokingly says that if she remained as the only member, she would become the club president. And Azusa, for a second, considers this possible scenario and then flatters and tries to gloss over it.Everyone goes hand out leaflets, which Yui has made, and they wear animal costumes. Azusa, poor girl, has to wear a pig costume.New members aren't coming and all plans, some of which are pretty slick, eventually fail.Houkago Tea Time plays at the Welcoming Party for New Students and Yui performs her ultimate technique, swinging her arm while hitting the strings. To Sawa-chan's disappointment, they went on the stage in school uniforms, although she took the trouble and prepare some nice maid outfits with mini-skirts for them.In the end, everyone, even Azusa, reach the conclusion that they're fine with only the five of them and that they just want to spend this last year together.I really liked the first episode. I guess I had an odd smile on my face when I was watching it. Once I even couldn't help myself and went "Yeah!" and raised my hand as all K-ONbu members did ^^' I think this is enough to describe how I felt about the episode, isn't it?btw. I love their ED outfits.
