(A RARE SIGHT! MAYA'S SMILING! SO CUTE xD)Fumiaki introduction.... more Maya development... some plot revelations... AND LOTS OF FUN! This episode is just as enjoyable as the previous one~So Fumiaki himself explains to us about his role in this series. The accuracy of his narration is pretty suspicious though, because the him in his narration is toooooooooooo different from the him in actuality. I don't think that he's lying though, except for the parts with him looking cool, hehe. (I like the in-character narration, even with the scenes shown to the audience)So if I assume that's the case: him being a time agent is real (well, no doubt about him being #6). His story about aliens invading the Earth in an instant and some survivors fighting against the aliens is most likely true as well. It explains on how they managed to get something like a time travelling machine if it weren't for alien technology (our modern technology develops incredibly fast, but it's kinda doubtful for our technology to be that adavanced by year 2012, if we consider time travelling to be something possible). He mentioned about a camp, so possibly these Abe Minorus are specially trained for this mission. The details and the preparations of the mission that he mentioned are true. But the part of him being so confident.... bragging that he's better than the previous agents.... the whole team praising him a lot.... and even his red aloha shirt and his butler.... I'm so doubtful on those xD They had to be Fumiaki's exaggerations or changes to make himself seem cool. Hehe. The smug face is really so wrong on him xD Haha! There are parts that are quite difficult to determine whether they're true or not though.... one of them would be him being in top class at the camp. Since there are only 6 agents, then there are only 6 campers? Him being the top but only sent as the last resort is just.... ^^; However, he's assigned to be a history teacher to work undercover..... and he doesn't seem to be the dumb type when it comes to studying. In other words, he may be pretty smart despite his dumb looks. Hhhhmmm.....Another thing is his psychokinesis ability. He was able to do it as a kid, but now he couldn't. If he's a fake then possibly those things he did as a kid were just camera tricks on television. But the pyrokinesis of the previous Abe Minoru seemed authentic, so possibly all the Abe Minorus really have special abilities and #6 is no exception. The question though is: why he wasn't able to do it infront of Maya in this episode?.... Hmmm... lacking concentration? It doesn't work all the time? He doesn't actually want to show her?And then there's him being an "agent". Well, I don't think all agents need to be fighter types but.... Fumiaki's task is to destroy something physically.... and a non-fighter type won't last if he'll be facing alien enemies alone. So it's hard to believe that on Fumiaki because he appears to be clumsy, weak, and a loser. However...Most loser type characters that I've seen usually just get hurt or get to evade grave danger out of luck. They are also incapable of using weapons (unless it's something designed for them.... or the weapon has a mind of its own.... or something like that). Fumiaki, though, used a shield (he didn't hide under something for protection. Using something to defend yourself is different from hiding from something to defend yourself). Though he got himself hit on the random things that Maya was throwing, but when she was using the sphere, he managed to avoid getting stabbed (the first was out of luck. But the rest I believe must be his fast reflexes). Lastly, when he noticed Maya being in danger, he actually barged through (by swinging xD) her window (his "Tarzan" yelling was hilarious xD). It's possible that he was just an idiot who can't just stand there when someone nearby is in danger, but to be able to make such an entrance.... I say he's really capable of rescuing people. I think he can fight but.... he's not prepared for occult enemies (that are not aliens xD), haha! That's why he's chickening out on the occult stuff. So yeah, he may have an idea about the school being rich in occult stuff, but seeing the actual weirdness is still different from just knowing about it.Anywayz, I knew I was gonna like Fumiaki for I was really certainly that he's not like as he appears. For an abused (by Maya) character, he's not exactly the cowardly nor useless type. He also has the guts to speak out his thoughts even to the person that intimidates him xD Not to mention he's such a hilarious guy xD I firmly believe that we'll be able to see him do something really cool sooner or later~The one who has been cool since the beginning is Maya though. Hehe. At the age of 17, she is willing to handle the principal's job (funny though that Fumiaki didn't question her age to be in such a position) and already wants to look into the security and finances (she knows management). We get to see her do some fighitng stunts when she attacked Fumiaki with a spear, and her accessories aren't just for display (they make punches more painful! Why didn't I think of that. I have a bracelet similar to it, LOLz) But in this episode, I think we're seeing one of her weak sides: She was powerless against the spirit strangling her. She was also afraid when the spirit was approaching her.... well, it's true that she could have done something if Fumiaki didn't arrive, but still, she was SCARED. I don't remember her looking frightened in the previous episode. So this episode showed that there are things that our badass heroine can't handle.Since our main character isn't the "perfect" anti-occult heroine, she's given a partner. She offered the partnership, but well, being a TSUNdere, she says that she only thought of that because she'll benefit from it ^^ Well, that's most likely true, but I believe that another reason for that partnership is for Maya to have an ally because she couldn't do everything on her own. She needs backup; someone to watch her back (reminds me of the situation of the main couple of Ookami-san and Seven Friends)There's also the scene of Maya trying to wake Fumiaki up (She even called him with all his titles/aliases). I guess it's obvious that she's doing that for this reason: She can't leave him alone but can't carry him so she tries to wake him up in order to have him be able to escape with her. She's such a nice girl even if she pwns the dude. Hehe. But hhhmmm... there's the possibility of Fumiaki just faking his passing out because he quickly recovered when everything was over. That was really cowardly and I would've lost my respect to him if only the scene wasn't done for comedic purposes, ehehe.I love the main pairing.... and they have a very amusing first encounter xD I'm pleased that Maya didn't blush like I expected (because that's what the anime girls do when they see a naked dude... at least the nonperverted/innocent types). She just ran and screamed because she doesn't want to be near the pervert xD Fumiaki was equally shocked though xD He didn't know about his being naked (which is caused by the space-time storm). Oh the forest chase was really hilarious xDSo far there are no hints of them being in a romantic relationship. If it will be like that in the end, that would be nice because it would deviate from the "leading-guy-and-leading-gal-will-always-be-romantically-connected cliche"; but if they do end up together, I wouldn't care xD They've got fun chemistry =3 I look forward to their adventures together now that they're officially working with each other xDThe Nostradamus Key bonded the two~ I like how the different goals of the two main characters became connected. It's not some cliche like Maya being some chosen one or something. And the events starting in that particular academy doesn't seem to be setting bias either, because it totally makes sense for the Key to be inside the school if Maya's father have been collecting occult stuff and storing them inside the school. In other words, for me the events aren't just stupid coincidences.... there are explanations for these coincidences. Hehe. And hhhmmm... about Maya's father, though in the flashback in episode 1 it was shown that he became harsh because of his obsession, it seems that even if he did that, he still loved his daughter until the end.... (he actually prepared a book for his loved ones' defense and advised them to stay away from the danger he got himself into). It's like with Maya loving her father even though she's been saying cruel things to him.Her love for her father seemed stronger than her hate for the occult.... for she prioritized finding her father's killer over destroying the occult academy. Father and daughter love.... how sweet~ (I think most tsundere females are daddy's girls.... at least the cool types.... like Hitagi-sama from Bakemonogatari xD Another goddess of mine. Hehehehehe~)Fumiaki and Maya's childhood friend (okayz, also glasses girl) are pretty much convinced that Maya doesn't really hate the occult despite her claims. Haha, so the series is hinting that Maya might just be being tsundere to the occult xD LOLz.... either way, her expressions of hate towards the occult are really cute and amusing xD It looks like she'll be having different comments regarding the occult in each episode. Previous episode she says she hates it, but this time she says "Occult is stupid!". Haha! Now speaking of the occult, interestingly, this series also shows that someone (or something) of the occult doesn't necessarily mean that the other forms of occult are okay or normal to them as well. Like in Fumiaki's case, though he is someone of the supernatural group (he's a timetraveller and a psychokinetic after all!), the occult stuff in the academy (I like their bilogy, history, and parapsychology rooms xD I wanna enroll there! LOLz) freaked him out xDAnd this series is mainly about the Nostradamus prophecy, right? Hmmm, looks like even Maya isn't exempted from having a wrong interpretation for it (For Fumiaki to be the King of Terror is just LOLz.... but Maya didn't judge by his looks. She's really the type who doesn't underestimate things despite of what they seem on the outside. It's like how she handles the occult.... everything is taken seriously o_o). Whether the prophecy was real or not, some events just match it purely out of coincidence. Haha, it's no different from the real world.Lastly, if Eden of the East has a cool technology that could get a lot of information from just taking a picture of something, Occult Academy has an interesting type of technology that could show you the future of what you take a picture of with what you plan to do on it in mind. Maya took a photo of herself with it and she had gotten a skull. The first interpretation that comes to mind when seeing that is that she'll be dead by 2012. However, we don't know what were her thoughts when taking that photo. One of my guesses is that she had been thinking of destroying the academy, an the result would be her death in the future. Possibly this is some sort of foreshadowing? And if ever that won't happen anymore, then it's thanks to Fumiaki? xD Oh interesting~Kyaaaaa..... this series seems to have lots on its story even if it seems so straightforward. The aliens seem to be the main enemies in this series, but it looks like those who are trying to stop Maya's father aren't just the aliens. Oh with this theme there are many other possible enemies xD Cool cool cool!(By the way, the scene of JK and Smile is just sooooooo random in this episode. And it was funny xD I'm liking these two among the supporting characters)
