Ganta and comrades are released from prison, but the war is not over yet.
Free from prison, but still not truly free.
Summary:
After the battle and Tamaki's death, Deadman Wonderland is closed indefinitely and most of the prisoners are transferred to other institutions. Ganta and some or the Deadmen are cleared of their charges and thus are free to walk among society once again. Ganta isn't sure what to do with his new found freedom, or who to turn to now that he knows what Shiro really is.
Meanwhile, Makina has been cooperating with investigators with regards to the experiments in Deadman Wonderland, but the government decide to send in a team of investigators anyways. In the prison, the team is met by Sakigami. Sakigami slaughters the team, and then Shiro starts doing something with her powers which causes the prison to shake once again.

Ha, no chapter 39-C. Anyways. After 40 chapters, Ganta is a free man once again, but the story isn't over just yet. This is just the brief period of calm before the storm, and given the tone of the series things are probably going to hell very soon. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a couple of "good" guys die in gruesome ways just like what happened to Azami. All of this should hopefully lead up the final confrontation between Ganta and Shiro/the Red Man, and the big question is whether if Ganta can save the nice Shiro personality or will he kill Shiro/Red Man. The final battle is probably a little ways off, so for now we'll just have see what Sakigami and Shiro are up to.
