Hello,
Let's start up with a new review. This time we'll talk about a rather famous comedy/romance light novel/manga/anime series that aired some year ago named "Toradora" written by Yuyuko Takemiya.
Before starting let's say that I enjoyed the series. I'm saying this because there are quite a lot of flaws in this series so it may look like I hate it.
Let's go with the classic synopsis :
Despite Ryuji Takasu's gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent. Class rearrangements on his second high school year put him together with his best friend, Yusaku Kitamura, and his hidden crush, Minori Kushieda. Along with these two comes Kushieda's best friend, Taiga Aisaka. Her delicate appearance contrasts with her brutal personality. Secretly in love with Kitamura, Taiga agrees to help Ryuji with his love interest as long as he helps her get closer to hers.
Yes, this is a classic love comedy with some additional spice to get the things a little more interesting. The story by itself is very clichè, but it's nicely played by the scriptwriter and does not get boring.
The characters are mostly likable and quite funny in the first half of the story, but it's difficult to feel emotions for them...
...I mean running away from home to elope without job or study title even?! It's not the 1800's you know?!
The real problem with this series story is that starts up rather light and funny and end up with overblowed drama all over the last episodes.
There is no build up of the situation, they just act rashly without giving some real thinking on the situation.
Hell, it's supposed to be setted in a modern world, there are billions of ways to continue your relationship and anyway soon enough you'll be able to meet again as soon as you graduate.
The graphical department is another bad note for this series, the quality is inconsistent for a J.C. Staff work!
You can get some nice scene and then a hundreds animated with the quality only my dog can achieve. (Way to increase DVD sales?!)
The seiyuu voices are a quite nice point of this series. We have Rie Kugimiya in the role of Taiga Aisaka, Eri Kitamura as Ami Kawashima and many others! They do a fantastic work on portraying the characters!
The Opening and Ending songs are all quite catchy and well done. (I loved Silky Heart and may do another post later on to talk about it!)
Concluding, this is a quite nice series if you don't get carried away by the useless and exaggerated drama in the last couple of episodes... (hoping they fixed the animation in the dvd box!)
That's all for now! See you soon,

P.S. My favourite heroine is Aisaka Taiga. She is after all the most cute of the three.
