Some
series are well-known for their theme songs and soundtracks: Sayonara
Zetsubou-sensei and Gurren
Lagann, for example. Another
such anime is Bleach,
whose best-of CD just won a big fat award to prove it. The latest
addition to the Bleach
music repertoire is called “Shojo S” and comes from a group
called SCANDAL, an all-girl pop rock group who also performed the
theme on the STAR OCEAN: Second Evolution
soundtrack. The group has yet to put out a full album, but they just
released a new single called “Sakura Goodbye,” which you can
watch the PV of right here. They're cute-- and pretty good, too.

And
then there's the Hayate no Gotoku!
second season, which will
be titled Hayate no Gotoku!!,
note the exclamation points-- clearly to annoy those of us who talk
about anime verbally, offline, I'm sure. Its theme songs have also
been announced: the OP, “Wonder Wind,” will be sung by Elisa and
released as her fourth single. You may remember her as the singer of
the ef – a tale of memories
OP singer. A quick sample from that PV...

The
ending theme, “Honjitsu, Mankai Watashiiro!” (“Today, I'm in
full bloom!”) will be performed by several of the show's female
characters: student council pres Hinagiku and the three girls from
the student council, Izumi, Miki, and Risa. That's seiyuu-tachi
Shizuka Itou, Sayuri Yahagi, Eri Nakao, and Masumi Asano.
I'm
probably more excited for Hayate no Gotoku!!
(although it eats at my soul every time I have to use two exclamation
points) than for Bleach,
but on the other hand, the Bleach
music has generally been pretty amazing, while Hayate's
has been decent but so-so. How about you?
