The DiamondDust Rebellion PosterA couple of different rumors on the
Internet this morning. In BOTH cases, these are completely
unconfirmed. I have e-mails out to VIZ and Kodansha about them, so if
I'm given any additional information, I'll pass it on to you as soon
as I can. Now, on to the rumors!
FanboyReview reports that the second
Bleach movie, DiamondDust Rebellion, is currently in
the process of being dubbed. Now, FanboyReview was behind the word
that Bandai had the license to 5 Centimeters per Second,
which turned out to be not true-- but they were definitely correct
about the
film being dubbed, since the dub was later released on
Crunchyroll for Shinkai Day. So don't hold that against them, 'k?
Besides, VIZ getting a Bleach movie is about as outlandish as,
um, something terribly in-landish. So, I'm going to grant this one a
very high probability of truth.
Next up, Kodansha. You probably
remember all the hubbub over the rumors that Kodansha was going to
move into publishing manga directly in the USA-- prompting some to
panic that Del Rey Manga, who has a licensing deal with Kodansha,
would die a horrible death of flames and locusts or something. That
turned out to be true (the Kodansha publishing manga in the US part,
not Del Rey's death, thank god!), but the latest in the rumor-fest is
that the plans are on hold due to everyone's economic troubles.
That...sounds pretty probable, too.
I'll let you know if I get any
confirmation, denials, or other commentary from either company!
