This episode is refreshing after all the suspense and drama of the last episodes. It tells the story on how those ridiculous dimwits of the Phantomhive household were hired. Dimwits I call them, but with no malice intended. I absolutely adore those dimwits. ^^ But like I said, considering how rich Ciel is, there must be another reason why he hires these dimwits to take care of his household matters right? Well, it was not exactly Ciel who hired them as you'll find out.A female mercenary was hired to wipe out the life of a gentleman. But she was finding it hard to deliver the job when the man's wife and children came into her view. Before she could pull the trigger, Sebastian appears and offers her a job at the Phantomhive mansion. To be a maid. Yes, it's Meirin! She looks so different without her glasses. She actually looks intelligent! ROFL But the get up is only perfect with the bookworm glasses in place. Ciel comes down in the morning to see his servants in a good mood (aren't they always?). But they were trying extra hard to ease their master feelings. It was just another day in the Phantomhive mansion. He walks into his study to enjoy morning tea while reading the papers. Headline reads the Queen is heading to Paris (Pah-ree!). Our little master was also still disturbed with the Aberline incident. Meanwhile, everything else is just as normal with the dimwit servants making blunders and creating havoc everywhere. And look who's here to visit? Our little master's adorable little fiance! Suddenly, the three dimwits showed a rare display of focus and seriousness. Finny picks up Lizzy and the four of them rushes back into the mansion with Pluto baring his teeth, on guard in front of the entrance. Concerned and confused, Lizzy asks them what was going on but the three pretended everything was all right and shooed her off, reminding her to give a big grin when she sees Ciel. Like as if she needs the reminder. The girl instantly brightens up when she sees her future husband, if that's even possible for her to get any brighter than she already is.Lizzy interrupts our bored little master who was building a pyramid out of playing cards in his study. She invites him to play chess with her so she could practice and sharpen her skills. Ciel obliged. To their pleasant surprise, Sebastian starts playing the violin and sets off a relaxed mood in the room. Meanwhile, outside the mansion, the servants were in battle mode. Meirin has her glasses off and was doing somersaults in the air. Doesn't she look awesome? Meirin kicks butt!Bard the Cook was holding fort from above the roofs. Flashback tells us of his past as a soldier in the army. He was the sole survivor of a disastrous war where his superior was too impatient and made some rash decisions resulting in the demise of the entire troop. Guess who's behind the attack on the Phantomhive estate? Yes, it's that greedy aristocrat. I thought Ciel took care of him already at the last episode? So I guess he's back from revenge eh? Bring it on!What's Finny's story? The poor kid used to be a lab rat where they were researching artificial strength. They've been injecting him with some weird shit that gives him superhuman strength. But to their miscalculation, Finny manages to break free one day. He bumps into Sebastian in his escape who recruited him to join the Phantomhive household. Job well done to the servants who actually manages to carry one task successfully: protect the Phantomhive home. Ciel and Lizzy also finishes their game at the same time and comes down for dinner to find his servants waiting for him all disheveled but sporting huge grins. Seems their enthusiasm is rubbing off, was that a smile I hear in your voice Ciel? :D Either that or he's actually showing his appreciation to them. We now know it was Sebastian who recruited all those dimwits which explains why he puts up with them. But why would the master put up with these failures of servants? The only explanation is that he knows what they've been doing all this while. Remember the sharp glances over the chess game? Our boy is not stupid.
