Anime Expo has announced that Gainax and Aniplex are going to present the English-subtitled premiere of the first Gurren Lagann movie, Gurren Lagann Gurren-hen-- which will now be called Gurren Lagann the Movie: Childhood's End. The flick will be shown at 7:30pm on Thursday, July 2nd, the first day of the convention-- subject to change, as are all things convention-y, I'm sure. Worth noting that no word has been offered yet about a DVD or theatrical release of the film in the US, so don't go jumping around assuming Bandai's gotten it-- we don't technically know yet.For those of you not familiar, there are two Gurren Lagann movies that feature animation from the TV series as well as some new animation clipped together to retell the series, almost like a recap. I'm told that there's a slightly heavier focus on Yoko, which will be nice for most, but that some of the secondary characters (like Rossiu and Kittan) don't get as much development. After all, this is two movies, not a lengthy TV show, so some of that is to be expected.I'm planning on going, as long as there are no panels or anything I need to be at. How about you?
