Macross Frontier’s official website confirms that there will be another theatrical film, bringing the total to two. The first will open in Japanese theaters on November 21st, and will be called Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~ (Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress). It will be a retelling of the original story, with some new footage. However, the second film will be totally original, with new music and everything. Hopefully that means it will continue where the story left off. I’m tired of the boring old, “Check out this new movie, which is actually just a giant recap episode,” attitude that Japanese producers have been shoveling out forever. But thank you for releasing a movie that isn’t a recap, because new storylines are always welcomed.
