When "demons" attack...Summary:The fight between the two Northern Campaign survivors and Isley is interrupted when the "demons" suddenly jump onto the battlefield. Helen instinctively swipes at one of the monsters with her sword only to have her right arm sliced off. Deneve rushes in to block the next attack, but a piece of the "demon"'s sharp tendril stabs into Helen's left eye. Deneve tosses Helen out of harm's way and tells her friend to regenerate her eye/reattach her arm. The "demon" attacks and Deneve tries to jump out of the way, but the "demon" is much faster than expected and gets behind Deneve. As the "demon" is about to strike, Dietrich appears out of nowhere and stabs the "demon" from behind. After sending the "demon" crashing into the ground, Dietrich tells Helen and Deneve not to move or make a sound. The Northern Campaign survivors comply and are surprised when the "demon" gets up, sniffs them, and walks away.Even an Abyssal One like Isley fears groupies...Just as Deneve asks Dietrich about what these monster are, the two of them and Helen notice that Isley has transformed into his awakened form and has apparently taken out three of the "demons". To Isley's surprise, the "demon" that he pinned to the ground with his lance arm starts licking him, and this prompts the Abyssal One to quickly toss the "demon" into a wall. To the shock of Helen and Deneve, all the "demons" that Isley has smashed to pieces quickly regenerate and all of the "demons" surround Isley. Isley responds by showering his surrounding with arrows, prompting Dietrich and company to seek safer grounds.Dietrich and company settle on a hill after putting some distance between themselves at the battle. Deneve checks on Helen's injuries and Helen states that she might not be able to regenerate her eye. Deneve then demands Dietrich tell them about these new monsters, and Dietrich reveals that the "demons" are weapons developed by the Organization to combat the Abyssal Ones. Unlike Claymores, these beings are created by infusing females with awakened being flesh instead of yoma flesh, and the result is a group of mindless monsters with incredible regenerative abilities and insatiable hunger for flesh. As long as their heads are protected, these monster can regenerate at an incredible rate. The Organization has modified these monsters so that they emit no youki, but they cannot sense youki themselves. Instead they rely on only scent to pursue their prey, and Organization has trained them to follow only one target. That target is Isley of course, and these mindless "demons" are formally known as Abyss Feeders....especially if they are as persistent and ugly as these ones.Back inside the village, Isley has lost his left arm to the Abyss Feeders, who are still unsatisfied and continue to hound the Abyssal One.~~~~~~~~~~~~~So the "demons" are actually the creation of the Organization and they are specifically targeted by Isley. No wonder Isley looks nervous and cranky. He probably can't get any sleep knowing that this band of (almost) unkillable groupies will follow him wherever he goes, and hiding doesn't do much good. Well actually Isley is probably strong enough to take on about three or four of these monsters and still win, but right now the numbers game is too much for him to overcome. It probably would be really handy to have Priscilla around right about now, but unfortunately she ran off with Raki. Priscilla probably wants nothing to do with Isley's rabid fan club anyways, so Isley is on his own.Now that we know what the Abyss Feeders are, the question is what's with the disappearance of all the village? Supposedly these Abyss Feeders are trained only to target Isley, but they'll probably kill things that make sudden movements, attack them (like Helen), or maybe if they are just too hungry. I guess the story might be that Isley tries to hide in village after village, and the Abyss Feeders track him down every time. Isley fights his way out each but the battle ends up trashing the village he resided in. Another question raised by the appearance of these monsters is what happened to Alicia and Beth, aka the original anti-Abyssal Ones program. The #1 and #2 twins haven't appeared for a long time but they are definitely not dead, so perhaps the Organization has other plans for them such as for building up their Awakened Being army overseas.Since the Organization sicced a group of Abyss Feeders on Isley, I'm guessing maybe they've done the same to Riful. It depends on whether if the Organization obtained a piece of Riful's flesh or not. This "demon" stuff has been pretty cool, but I kind of want the story to move back to Clare's group and how they run into Riful and her little experiment with Luciela/Raphaela. Throw in Raki and Priscilla then we've go a party!
