Now that the Flask plan is out of the bag, things are about to get a lot tougher, and not just for Medaka Kurokami...
Indeed, it's Hitoyoshi that runs into trouble first as he encounters Oudo Miyakonojou - a majestic member of class thirteen and the Flash Plan who seems himself as ruler over all and sundry, to the point where those around him are completely immune to resist his commands. While

Trying to escape to a better show! Medaka Box Abnormal appears to be fully embracing its shonen identity, with Oudo following up Unzen as the new, more powerful enemy. The motivations seem pretty flimsy and rather unfitting for this school setting, and Odou’s princely gimmick is uninteresting, reminding me of Gilgamesh from the Fate series [...]

Episode: Medaka Box Episode 2
Well on to our second episode of this badass Shonen Jump series! However this episode was pretty much a generic solve some problems that are occurring in the school type of episode. It was divided into two parts, one problem to solve for each side. Before we get on to the main story let's learn a bit about our hero Zenkichi.Appearantly the reason he came to this school was because the uniforms were white. Unfortunately the members of the student council must wear black uniforms!Medaka says Zenkichi looks good in black but suggests wearing a jersey inside his jacket for some reason saying it'd look cool. You'd think she were trolling but upon trying it Zenkichi thinks its "super devilishly awesome." Some weird sense you got there bro.Anyhow on to the first problem submitted to the help box, the "Medaka Box." So a girl on the track and field team was just chosen to be a regular for the club and someone in the club is bullying her by shredding her shoes and leaving a "GTFO of track" message using cut up newspapers. Afraid of being in a club with members who would do such a thing and not being able to tell her teachers, Medaka Box was the way to go. Medaka promises to solve this problem immediately."This case will be solved....BY TODAY!" "TODAY!?"After thinking a bit: "The culprit is a track and field member with a relatively long record in the club, focuses on short distant running. This person also owns the same spike shoes as Sophomore Ariake. Left-handed and is subscribed to the Fuguruma Newspaper, living in block 23.""WUT?"Now, the way they go about solving this is almost too conveniently smart and hard to believe but here goes.1) The shoes are cut using scissors, precisely and accurately where the shoes are stitched together. To be able to do this one must know exactly know where the wear and tear begins after having worn these shoes themselves.2) Despite having shredded the shoes, the culprit did not damage the shoe's logo, strange but showing that it's possible whoever did it actually favors that brand.3) Looking at the cut marks you can see that left handed scissors were used to cut the shoe.4) The Newspaper used in this message was one from Fuguruma Newspaper.5) News articles are at times changed depending on time of print. This newpaper with this article used was printed and distributed only to block 23.Yeah. How the heck does she see through all of this? Well anyways, using the schools info bank Shiranui they spot the one possible girl who could be the culprit. They then try to think how to approach her but Medaka just sort of leaps in front and confronts her. From behind, like she's always done.This leads into a crazy chase, Medaka easily keeping up with her running and ultimately passing her saying that she prefers jumping more than running. The girl then loses her balance and falls. Medaka saves her from falling and lets her off the hook saying she believes her and commends her for her hard work.Zenkichi then does the clean up work of making sure she understands what happened and made sure she learned her lesson.All right moving on. Part 2 is about a dog hunt. This second half really shows how much weird humor Medaka Box actually has in this series. A very interesting fact seems to be shown in this half. Medaka actually dislikes animals!"Please find my lost puppy" "This is up to you Zenkichi. You know my.... fear of animals"So Zenkichi is the boss of this part, along with his good(?) buddy Shiranui. It's not long before they find out the puppy they need to catch was... ....an insanely vicious hound. Shiranui was literally there to be a troll. She wanted Zekichi to pretend his guts were pouring out using sausages. Yes. Well utterly failing to capture the dog they go back and report to Medaka. This resulted in Medaka taking up this challenge herself. But wait, I thought she was afraid of animals?Quite the contrary, it's not that Medaka was afraid of animals. Animals fear her. Even with this ridiculous get up to kindly approach the dog, apparently Medaka give off this monstrous aura that makes all animals just out right fear her.This was a decent episode with lot of WTF moments. It's looking like we'll be seeing more key characters join the party starting next episode.-Kxela

04/26/2012 03:00 PM UTC[Review] Medaka Judo Part 2 (Medaka Box ep. 04) >>
Continuing from the last week’s episode, we’re presented with the match between Zenkichi and Akune. The match was decided to have a 10:1 ‘handicap’ winning ratio (due to Zenkichi being a judo amateur). That’s why I was seriously worried when Zenkichi got “ippon-ed” on the first 9 strikes. Lucky that in the end Zenkichi won [...]

Awesome as hell, you son of a gun.
[[MORE]]
For the first part of the show, Medaka solved a case regarding mutilated trackfield sneakers (or by any other name).
But Medaka can run as fast as you do, she’s a creation with a somewhat omnipotent personality.
The culprit is in denial, but…
Medaka made her admit. Nothing happened (read: she let the culprit loose). Culprit’s eventually filled with guilt and guess what, she gave the victim new shoes in her locker.
Second case: Medaka solves a case regarding a missing Russian wolfhound. Medaka said something about animals that made Zenkichi go on a hunt for the dog, which is fierce, by the way.
Outcome: Zenkichi got hurt, Medaka hits it for the second try, dresses as a sexy dog mascot, scares the wits out of the dog. Solved.
Trivia: Medaka is scary… that’s what the animals have said to me in an interview.
Rating: +++
