Aoi Bungaku is pretty trippy - it's a psychological mindrape that has no intention of showing it's hand to the viewer. The series is set to adapt four separate novels done with four different character designers and directors. I knew beforehand that the character designs for the first segment were done by the superb Takeshi Obata (Death Note, Bakuman, Hikaru no Go), but I only just found out that the first segment is also done by one of my all-time favorite directors (!!!) Morio Asaka (CardCaptors Sakura, Chobits, Galaxy Angel, Gunslinger Girl, Nana) who, as usual, is storyboarding and directing. You can't go wrong with that combo!

Recently I was able to acquire the most recent OVA of the Negima series and after watching it I felt the need to write a post about it, which mind you, I rarely do so for anime. Reason I say this is because I'm not the type of anime otaku which do reviews on anime like some other otakus which their blog is dedicated to reviewing anime. Now keep in mind as I said that, that this post is NOT a review and if it seems like a review because of the way I word things then disgard those thoughts. ^^ I simply want to express my thoughts into the OVA series of Negima. Alright if you are ready, then lets proceed! First before saying anything else: If you haven't watched the first Negima series then I suggest watching it first so you can have a better understanding of the events happening on the OVA and why they say what they say. Also, there are two different OVAs which follow the first Negima series which go by the following names: - 魔法先生ネギま������白き翼 ALA ALBA��� / Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Shiroki Tsubasa Ala Alba~ / Magical Teacher Negima! ~The White Wing~ - 魔法先生ネギま������もうひとつの世界��� / Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Mou Hitotsu no Sekai~ / Magic Teacher Negima! ~Another World~   The OVA which I want to focus today is "Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Mou Hitotsu no Sekai~" which is the latest OVA release for the series. As I write this, I'm attempting to encode the video so it's viewable here in Aniverse so for all of you who have not watched it, can watch it and comment your thoughts on the OVA. I will also try encoding and upload the first OVA series for those of you who have not watched it yet. I will not upload the first season of the Negima series since it has already been licensed by FUNimation. NOTE: If FUNimation get the licensing rights to these OVAs then I will take them off from Aniverse so I suggest watching it before that happens.   Now for my thoughts on the OVA: One word: FLAWLESS. Or at least that's what I like to say since I would be blamed for fanboyism and exagerration. While that one single word is a bit exagerrated for this series, it was nonetheless a great first episode OVA which left me unable to eat my food and my jaw on the floor. If you thought that the fight scenes in the first season of Negima were awesome (considering that you thought that way) the fight scenes in this OVA takes it litterally and not joking, to the MAX. It was to the point where I was getting off my chair and shouting which I rarely do in action scenes, but it was just THAT good. My thoughts on the fight scenes in the OVA, I felt that if they did the same for the series throughout, it would have been almost perfect. If you think otherwise, please comment and tell your view on this episode. If you still haven't watched it, visit the Anime Theater and find it there and watch it. Regular readers of my blog know that I spend much time hating on moeblobs. Now I know not all moeblobs fall under this description, but I've found many of them to be passive, submissive girls who embody so called 'traditional feminine traits'. And to be brief, that character achtype has always pissed the shits out of me.Well, in addition to being annoying and useless, it seems that being a passive little moebitch also leads to comparatively lower self esteem. A recent study* found that women who were tomboys in childhood generally enjoyed higher self esteem in adulthood as compared to women who spent their time pursuing more traditionally feminine ideals.So there you have it.
