Remember
the movie Dead Space: Downfall,
an animated feature film tie-in to the Electronic Arts game Dead
Space? A
straight-to-DVD-and-Sci-Fi-Channel release? Came out back in October?
No?
Well,
the film was created by Electronic Arts along with Film Roman, a
division of Starz Media, and Variety reports that the twosome is at
it again, this time with an animated film based on the upcoming
Dante's Inferno
action/adventure game due out this year on PS3 and 360.
But
here's the clincher: Variety claims that there are “anime studios”
lined up to create the film, although it doesn't mention any specific
names. Dead Space: Downfall
was also often cited as “anime-style,” but I can't find any
information on what studios were involved with it, so it's impossible
to tell whether this new movie is going to be animated by Japanese
studios or not. But it'll probably get marketed at you guys, so,
here, now you're aware of it.
The
game and series are actually kind of an interesting concept: you
follow Dante himself (no, not the one from Devil May Cry)
on his adventure through the nine circles of hell-- that would be
Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, Violence, Lying, and
Betrayal. They at least claim that the materials will feature a lot
of details from Dange Aligheri's original poem, The Divine
Comedy, which outlined the
circles.
So it
sounds like something I'll look into, at least, especially after
watching the game's trailer at its official
website. How about you?
