It is, quite possibly, my favorite action series ever. You've got a relatively honest, hard-working former salaryman joined by a much-abused and much-abusing (and very hot) gun-toting near-psycho, a former Marine, and a super-hacker, all come together to work as modern pirates.Yes, it's Black Lagoon, with as much heart and soul as it has blood and violence (and that's quite a lot). Moon Phase reports that a third “season” will be released as an OVA in 2010. Director Sunao Katabuchi returns, too. I wonder if it'll be any more violent and graphic than the past TV series?Now, obviously we aren't caught up with the manga in Japan, although all of the past two seasons of the anime are out. Assuming the new OVA follows the manga, I believe the next arc features the return of a particular umbrella-toting maid. I've also heard it's a very dark and somewhat trippy storyline, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

Originally recorded March 7, 2009. This Japanese businessman gets kidnap by a bunch of homies called the Black Lagoon. They are a delivery company that transport whatever the black market demands, such as guns and even people. It’s kind of like the story where your mom told you to not hang out with the bad kids but you do anyways but then regret it because then you get arrested because the cops found out your friends had pot on them but you didn’t know, so then you get to the scene where you tell your mom that you don’t want to hang out with the bad kids anymore. Well, this story is kind of like that, except it’s nothing like it. Instead of the Japanese businessman returning to his mundane life, he instead welcomes the change. He changes his boring Japanese name to Rock, and instead of being a pussy he embraces his new life of killing bad people because they so happen to be shooting at him first. Oh yeah. There’s also Russian mafias, Chinese mafias, South American mafias, and explosions. Lots of explosions. It’s an homage to American culture and Hong Kong action movies. So watch it.
