L’s plan has successfully trapped Higushi and right now he is on the run after almost been caught on the spot at Sakura TV. In order to prevent from being chased, he makes a deal with Rem for the Shinigami’s eyes but it’s already too late since he has been surrounded by [...]

Wow, that was an excellently executed episode. The firm pacing and constant surprises are perfect for such an explanatory episode. I guess everyone should have seen episode 25 already, where L dies, but I’ll get into that next entry. Anyway, pretending I don’t know what happens next, I must say L has never [...]

Episode: Death Note Episode 24
Wow, this episode was of incomprehensible amounts of win. The surprisingly artistic approach, the mindgames, the WHOAMG plot twist, everything was amazingly done. Although, I have my doubts as to the reality of the situation, something tells me that there’s much more going on in this episode than meets the eye.
Episode Rating 10/10

Episode: Death Note Episode 25
Short Synopsis: Finally, we get to see a part of Ryuzaki’s background.
Good: The first plot twist was awesome. The background was awesome.
Bad: The background could have been more, certain parts could have been cut out of your resident bishie-anime, too bad I saw the second plot twist coming.
Good: Still, the results of that plot twist [...]

Episode: Death Note Episode 25
It's been a while since I last read the actual manga so I have forgotten how shocking this entire story was. I know many people were upset about this development but you have to admit that it does achieve the feeling of a total meltdown that the author intended. I actually had a chill when the successive death tolls happening just as I was when I saw the JSDF invading NERV in The End of Evangelion. One thing that I also forgot to mention was that while I like both Light and L, I also have little to no emotional attachment to either of them so I can pretty much watch the series for the story and enjoy the twists and turns that the author make. I think one's enjoyment for this particular twist will depend on whether or not you are attached to the character. As a side note, I like how the look of this episode relies heavily on the three basic colours that the series often: Blue, Red, and Yellow.

As the previous episode of Death Note had Higiuchi buckle under L’s plan, Higiuchi decided is was best to go to Sakura TV, and kill Matsuda, once he has found out his full name. I thought that the episode started off on a light note, with L doing his impression of Misa, in the [...]

Yessssss! Kira-Light returns in all his murderous glory. While I actually enjoyed the Yotsuba arc quite a bit and can’t seem to understand why people thought it was going to suck, it’s episodes like these that remind me why I began watching Death Note in the first place.
Episode Rating 10/10
Continuing from last episode, both L’s [...]

Episode: Death Note Episode 24
It’s been a while since I sat down to read any Death Note, which might explain why the seventh volume didn’t leave me as gripped as the earlier ones did. Maybe it could also be down to the fact that we lose a major character at this stage of the story which leaves me sceptical [...]

Sorry for the late review. I'm just too tired this week and haven’t had the chance to do anything beyond work. I also have some kanji test tomorrow so unfortunately this is the only series I can cover today. As for the episode itself, this one covers a lot of ground as I expected. It's not really up to the point where the first arc ends but we're really close to it and judging from the preview, next week's episode should be that episode. That means after next week's episode, there are only 12 episodes left to cover the reminder 5 volumes of the manga. I think there will be a lot of cuts and edits made in order to compress all 5 volumes into 12 episodes. To give you a comparison, Nodame Cantabile anime omitted at least 3 chapters so that it can cover 4 volumes in 10 episodes. Unlike Death Note, however, that series don't have that much dialogue.

What if Kyon gets the Death Note and Yuki is L? Who will die first? My bet is on Taniguchi. Pretty cool MAD video. XD

As Misa has tricked Higiuchi into confessing that he is Kira, on Misa’s cell phone, this episode is dedicated to L’s plan to get Higiuchi to reveal how he kills people as ‘Kira’. As the Yotsuba arc IMO started off slowly, this episodes picks right the pace, as there’s lots of things to like about [...]

What an awesome episode of Death Note, and the high speed car pursuit just livens the mood of what is usually only a slow and intellectual anime. Of course, that is not a bad thing, but this brings in a welcomed different form of suspense. In actual fact though, the pace of this [...]

Well, this is it: the end of the Yotsuba arc. That means everything will be back to status quo next week. What comes after that is inevitable whether one likes it or not. I think I finally understand why people are upset with the upcoming story development. Prior to following the series religiously, thanks to the anime, I have little to no attachment to the characters. As a result, I just enjoy the story based on its own merit. However, things get really complicated once you start liking a character. Even when the story demands it, it's really hard to let go your favorite character. The problem is, I think the author of Death Note considers the story to be more important than the characters. As a result, character death is simply inevitable part of the storyline. I really want to see what anime-only watchers think after the dreaded episode goes on air.

Short Synopsis: The climax of the Yotsuba-arc.
Good: Finally the Yotsuba-arc is over.
Bad: The second half of the previous episode was better; A deus ex machina? Death Note, I thought you knew better.
Overall Enjoyment Value: 8/10
Those who have been reading my blog know that I’ve been annoyed with the Yotsuba-arc. It was basically one huge joke, [...]
