The calm before the storm is how I would describe this week’s Dog Days as the most exciting thing, besides Shinku getting man-raped by a team of maids, was the foreshadowing reveal at the end of the episode. This seemed to be mainly a more character driven show featuring a lot less action than usual, [...]

In other words, she is a tsundere.
Well, we finally got our first "real" show of the grimdark turn of events. It was presented in a pretty straightforward manner, which was something I did not expect. How often is a huge change to the tone of an anime presented so directly? This is like blasphemy. I guess they opted out of the shock factor to win over fans.
Watching all of them wag their

The highlight of this episode was the Princess patting Eclair’s head. That’s not a good sign. This episode was just boring. The first five minutes of head patting and training with Eclair were decent but nothing special. Then Shinku goes … Continue reading →

Despite being in a medieval-type setting, Dog Days doesn’t feel like a fantasy anime. When you compare the setting of Dog Days to other anime, who also have married the concepts of kemonomimi girls and a medieval setting like Spice and Wolf or Utawarerumono, you begin to draw some similar results. All shows have castles, [...]

Stop taking advice from mirrors. Impressions: Unsurprisingly, another interstitial episode where practically nothing happens until a cliffhanger at the very end about Shinku and Milly being killed in a month, which is why Leon’s so… whatever. She’s trying to prevent that future by… conquering Biscotti? There’s also the chance that Shinku and Milly are face-down in [...]

Summary: Gaul launches Shinku with his Lion King Double Claw and combos into a Aerial Explosion Destruction Circle, but Shinku’s quick thinking keeps him from taking too much damage. Unfortunately, since Shinku is from another world, he cannot change into a furball when injured, and the fight becomes more of a comedy. Even more comically, [...]

The battle to rescue the princess (in time for her concert) continues in this week’s episode. I’ll use my most excellent master sage super powers and predict everything will work out for our heroes–god forbid the show be postponed. There’s some much better action scenes early in the episode as first Eclair duel wields against [...]

Dog Days is getting more and more awesome to watch. Nothing like some insert songs to make an anime better. My only real dislike is the recap at the start of the episode, but that takes a total of 15sec, which is much shorter than most recaps, so I guess it's fine. I am 100% sure there will be a grimdark twist at this point.
What is with this anime and the exploding clothes? They are always

If you could change Dog Days from a carefree, light-hearted anime to a serious, violent one, would you? The elements are there for it to be a bloody fighting anime but other aspects repress them with the show’s well-known light-heartedness. But let’s say you could change a few things, like modify the fighting and story… [...]

I’d been wondering whether Shinku could become an animal ball since he’s from another world, and apparently he can’t. Oh well, it’s not like he’s going to die. The first half of this episode when everyone fought was a lot … Continue reading →

Divine raiments are not public transportation. Impressions: The less said about the cheap cheap insert song sequence, sword surfing, random four second bout of angst over being useless etc, the better. "It’s okay because she’s cute." Disturbingly close to reality. At least Horie Yui’s still a good singer. Unfortunately, that was almost half the episode. [...]

Summary: Eclair berates Shinku for accepting Gaul’s war declaration, but the two have no choice but to ride hard to the fortress without the immediate backing of Laurent’s troops. Ricotta’s skill with artillery gets the duo past the outer gates, but once in the courtyard, Shinku’s inability to work well with Eclair gets them cornered [...]

Bunnies ears = cats now?
This episode felt like a troll episode. We were under the impression that we would get the fight between the hero and archnemesis, but it doesn't actually happen in this episode. I forgive it, though; throughout the episode, it was essentially a mindfuck. I was thinking, "Hey, wouldn't this be kool?" ...and then, BAM, it happened. They've seriously got to stop with the

The pacing in Dog Days is way off… that is if this is indeed a 12-episode anime. We are now a third done with the season and we’ve barely spent a more than a full day in this world. And at the rate the series is going, there aren’t going to be enough plots/development/battles for [...]

I would think the stairs would kill their ankles. Impressions: A decent episode, but in accordance to the Seven Arcs principal of only being good once every three episodes, the art and animation this week was really really gimpy. And not a whole ton happened either since there was apparently some kind of time [...]
