Yesterday brought several site updates for shows we're keeping an eye on, including a revamped Genshiken official site with basic information on the second season (and the awesome splash image that Hobby Stock scooped earlier), a Doujin Work official site update with info on the release of manga vol. 4, the on air schedule, and shots of the OP and ED theme covers (July 25th release!), and the official Kimikiss game site has been updated with info on the upcoming anime, subtitled "pure rouge". In other news, the AIKa R-16 official site has been updated with stills from the July 27th release of the OVA's second volume, and Aquaplus's To heart 2 OVA has a promo video up at Animate.tv for its second episode, due out on June 27th. Via rq: Hobby Stock has posted the results of a trip they took to Media Factory's animation HQ, coming away with some great new images from some of the projects they're currently working on. First up is a superb bit of Genshiken season 2 production art, looking very much like a Kio Shimoku original piece... dokidoki. Next up are several stills from Doujin Work, the first to make it online, and finally a few shots from the ero-ero Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny onsen OVA to be included with the limited edition release of volume 1 of the TV anime (on sale June 22nd). There are some Zero no Tsukaima 2 images up as well, but I believe they're all the same ones that Famitsu had up in its earlier coverage. I'm still blinded by the magnificent new Ohno artwork, may take a bit to recover... (no more)

The official Doujin Work anime website was updated on Monday to something more closely resembling a Doujin Work anime website, including story information and character profiles. Why am I so excited about this? In its manga incarnation it's part of the tradition shared by NHK, Genshiken, and Comic Party, most closely resembling the latter in terms of its fantasy caricature of the doujin scene, only far more humorously deviant. With this coming in July followed by season 3 of Genshiken in the fall, the latter half of 2007 is looking to be fine time for fans of anime about fans of anime. :3 (no more)

Via Canned Dogs: anime-themed satellite channel AT-X has posted a program profile for the anime version of Doujin Work, set to air in July. According to Zepy's scoop the show will be half animated and half live action, featuring the seiyuu attempting to create their own doujinshi. I'm not sure what his source is on this as it's not written on either the official site or its AT-X offshoot, but if true it could make for a very interesting viewing experience indeed. Zepy also mentions altercations between mangaka Hiroyuki and the anime staff over the degree to which the story's content will be toned down for the anime; it would be a shame if they strayed too far from the original as its acerbic wit is what makes the manga worthwhile. In other news, the fourth volume of the manga is set for publication on July 27th, its limited edition including a drama CD and full-color booklet. I'll try to get a review of the manga up here before the anime starts, or some sort of preview at least... (no more)

Despite my avowed ambivalence toward 4-panel manga and their anime adaptations hope springs eternal: a new promotional video is online at the Doujin Work official site today that while not exactly encouraging is so abstract that it can't really be called discouraging, either. I finally managed to track down the elusive manga the show will be based on, so hopefully the next time it crops up here I'll have a more informed view of what the all of those kaleidoscoping characters are doing in that there video clip... all I know at this point is that it'll be about working with doujin, which is a genre I fully stand behind.
