Kadokawa Shoten have announced a new game for PSP consoles, called Lucky Star Net Idol Meister. The release date has been set to the Christmas Eve, 24th December 2009. There will be two editions to choose from, the regular one that will be sold for 6,090 yen, and a special edition named DX Pack which will be sold at price of 8,190 yen.You will become a manager in Japan and your task will be to choose a potential idol from a group of girls aspiring to become idols and lead her to become the best in the business. Among those girls, there will be characters from Lucky Star.Izumi KonataHiiragi KagamiHiiragi TsukasaTakara MiyukiThe game is to be set in 4 places, Akiba, Bukuro, Konata's town, and Net World. Players will take part in auditions, observe the characters, play some mini-games, etc. There will be different things to do depending on player's actual location.   How many of you remember the trading figures of Lucky Star characters cosplaying Macross Frontier ? Moeyo has more pictures , now in full color. I have to admit, I totally adore Konata as Alto -- probably as much or more than I like Miki as my favorite character, Sheryl. The younger girls playing waitresses at the Nyan Nyan restaurant and Konata as Ranka's cell phone blob are pretty freakin' awesome too. I don't know how many of you remember that during Lucky Star's original TV run in Japan, the director of the series was swapped out after episode four, from Yutaka Yamamoto to Yasuhiro Takemoto, reportedly because Yamamoto wasn't ready for directorship yet. (By contrast Takemoto had already successfully directed Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid and Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, though he too had been pulled earlier in his career-- after directing Nurse Witch Komugi's OVA for two of its five episoes.)YamamotoYamamoto has just been announced as Otakon's latest Guest of Honor, and before I hear any jokes or complaints about why we're getting the “rejected” director, consider this: Yamamoto also episode-directed episodes 1 and 12 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; episode 12 being the Live Alive episode that was kind of a major hit. He also directed the ending sequence, which you may have heard of here and there: Hare Hare Yukai?In the meantime, since Haruhi, he's also directed another little show a few of you may have heard of from A-1 Pictures called Kannagi. A new set of trading figures has been announced from Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji: Lucky Star characters dressed up as Macross Frontier characters.Unsurprisingly, pink-haired Miyuki-chan will be dressed in Sheryl Nome's “military uniform” concert outfit-- for those unaware, the two characters feature the same voice actress, Aya Endo. Tsukasa is the Ranka to Miyuki's Sheryl...kind of ironic, when you think about it: the two least popular characters in Lucky Star (of the primary four) are playing the two most popular characters in Macross F, hm.Kagami is dressed as Klan Klan, while gender-bending lovers will adore Konata dressed as Macross F's indecisive hero, Alto. There are other items available as well, it looks like, including the three younger Lucky Star characters dressed as waitresses from Ranka's restaurant, Konata dressed as that funny little green critter that runs off with Sheryl's undergarments in one episode, a few of the fighter jet models, and others. It's pretty epic.The release date is set for September, and it looks like the MSRP per figure is ¥800 (about $8.20 USD). I'd bet on them being in the $10-20 range when imported, but it looks like we won't be seeing them at the big summer cons this year, alas! Still, how adorable are they? I want a full set. I can't wait until we can see the full paint versions.What do you guys think? I'd also be kind of interested to see another set with the characters all cosplaying slightly differently-- maybe Yutaka as Ranka, Patricia as Sheryl, Minami as Klan Klan, and Minoru Shiraishi as Alto. Hmm!
