I feel really lazy to make this update, but meh. Negima the remake is somewhat dissatisfying to me. I am one of those who had watched the older version, and I had prefer that one compared to this new one. The art is totally different from what Akamatsu-sensei would draw, and the storyline is quite different from the originals (I'm not sure about the mangas though). Although so, I must say that I had adore the new OP and ED (especially the OP). They're much much better than the second ED of the old version of Negima. And again... Evangeline gets all the initial attention, compared to other girls.Wow... we have a new teacher!"Asuna saw you using magic. Erase her memories!""I'm Negi Springfield!"Negi as in Onion?"This is the girl's dorm, but you can stay here,""I have waited for this day..."So.. in the first episode, it was revealed that Negi Springfield had graduated from a Magic school in London, and was sent to an all girls school, the Mahora Academy, to be a teacher to gain experiences, while having to keep his magic ability a secret from others. Takahata-sensei, whom Negi would prefer to call Takamichi, is also a magic user, and is a teacher teaching in the same school for a long time now. Takahata introduced Negi into the class he will be teaching... the class 3-A. 3-A consists of a 31 female students (obviously), and this episode introduced each and every one of them. This included Asuna, the girl who is still half asleep when she saw Negi using magic to fix Chamo-kun's fallen tooth. Chamo-kun is an ermine which as the ability to speak. Meanwhile in Mahora, Negi was asked to live in Asuna and Konoka's dorm until he find his own place to live. As the episode is about to end... an evil vampire appeared under the full moon, and she attacked Konoka and another girl.."I have underestimated you," said the vampire"Are you okay, Nodoka?""In order to make a provisional contract, you will have to kiss...""What the hell do you know?!"Using the computer during class..."I made Chachamaru!Episode 2 was much better. It was revealed that the girl the vampire was attacking was Nodoka, the shy purple-haired girl who resembles Hinata from Naruto a lot. Negi "shoo"ed the vampire away and saved the girls. Luckily, none of the girls saw Negi using his magical powers to ward off the vampire... but Asuna did. Negi and Asuna had a chat, and Chamo-kun had told Asuna that Negi needed a partner, and to be a partner, a girl must kiss Negi in order to be one. Yuck! At least they retained the kissing part. Then comes the part where the vampire, who was little Evangeline, licking her own wounds. Takahata, who is in charged of whatever Evangeline would do, fixed the wounds the vampire made on the girls. Meanwhile in class, everyone was talking about the vampire attack. Negi met up with Megumi, who was pushing Chachamaru in a cart with Evangeline following her behind. Negi started to suspect that Evangeline was the vampire..."Go Go Baka Ranger!"Last but not least... the baka-rangers! *sweat drops* I do pity Makie, who is also baka-pink, lol.

Staff: 脚本：金巻兼一　絵コンテ：福田道生　演出：宮本幸裕　作監：杉山延寛       Opening: "1000% Sparking" - A quite stylish and surreal OP as expected, though I thought it'd be more colorful instead of being in a monochrome/sepia tone. The song is a bit different as well, starting out with rather interesting lines spoken by each character and then the chorus for the last 30 seconds or so. Very cool, fitting for a show that's supposed to focused on battles. I especially like the shot of Eva ;) There will be multiple arrangements of the song with different classmates singing as seen on this listing on Starchild's site (a 10 CD set), so I wouldn't be surprised if the OP arrangement changed every now or then.    Ending: "Hoshizora Letter" - Quite calming in contrast to the OP. Extremely cute, too.      Evagenline (in adult vampire form) has already bitten Konoka and now has Nodoka, who she drops to the ground. Thankfully, Negi makes a safe landing for her with his magic and then battles -- quite strong, able to deflect Eva's attacks quite easily back to her. At the last second before being hit, Chachamaru stands in front of Eva to absorb the blow and is damaged quite severely... she'll be back. Setsuna's rather worried about Konoka as you'd expect. The bite on Konoka's neck disappears a short while later, though -- seems Takamichi did it. Yue and Haruna are with Nodoka. Negi gets his first look at her eyes -- yes, quite cute, I agree. Nodoka seems to have fallen for Negi already ;) Only one problem for Negi after everybody else leaves -- Asuna saw it all. Ooops (^^;;)    Asuna calls Kamo-kun a talking rat and they argue back and forth (the screen splitting here and there and moving around) until Kamo-kun tells Negi to erase Asuna's memories. Doesn't work at all (as you'd expect if you read the manga) since Asuna still remembers that Negi's a マホゥ使い MAHOutsukai (it had to come sooner or later, didn't it?) Negi tries again, and here comes the usual gag from Tsukuyomi (ouch), and yet again when Negi tries a last time.

I stopped watching the first Negima, partly because I couldn't keep the characters straight. So I've made this chart showing pictures, names and voice actresses for all the class-members, and including a brief description of each one. Here's a sample: The names of the voice actresses are linked to their info pages in the Anime News Network encyclopedia. Images and descriptions are from the character page on the new anime's official site. Some are slightly different from the old anime or the manga, I believe. There are very full character descriptions and images for the old anime on Wikipedia. Japanese Wikipedia is also great. The old anime's official site has a good single page with images and names. The images there link to pictures of the voice actresses, all of whom I believe are the same in both anime. After two episodes, I'm still not very involved in the story of the new anime, but I think the backgrounds, character design, colors, humor, and overall look are great. Shinbou Akiyuki (the director) just keeps doing his thing and getting better and better at it.
