The Gachi Rangers so far have a 100% success rate against their enemies the Gedol Empire, which is making the Emperor just a little annoyed. His lackeys have firm instructions to come up with a new plan, one that will work this time, Or Else. It's been noted that Japan's birth rate is falling, something that will eventually remove Japan as a problem, so maybe if they just speeded up that process..? Unfortunately the first area of the country they target is home to Gachi Pink, who takes a break from playing guess-what-colour-my-panties-are-today with Creep-chan to look into the problem...
The Gachi Rangers were such a fixture of the first season that it was almost a cert that Mitsudomoe would have to do an episode of them at some point. I just wasn't expecting them to start the second season with it. That said, they've completely nailed it, with the Rangers being such a complete bunch of no-hopers that you wonder how they got to be heroes in the first place. I loved it.
That also said, it's hardly an episode that's going to be representative of the whole season. Or at least, I hope no. While its great fun in its own right, it's not really what you tune into Mitsudomoe to see (in much the same way that you don't want to always see Gekigangar III when you put on an episode of Nadesico, so I guess we'll have to wait for the next episode to get a "real" taste of what Mitsudomoe has in store for us.
The Good: It had to be done, and they've done it really well
The Bad: Not nearly enough of the Marui girls.
I'll be really surprised if this season manages to drop the ball enough that I don't like it, though - after a rocky start, the first season quickly got into a stride that was comedy gold, and I fully expect this season to keep up the good work.
