In “Welcome to the Classroom!”, Satou has a slight nervous breakdown but manages to make some progress in his hikikomori recovery program. Misaki gives him some bad advice but everything works out in the end. Also, Yamazaki doesn’t get angry this episode…well, at least not his real-life self.
Satou has problems writing what he calls “embarassing” [...]

Things are looking decidedly bleak for Satou after the fiasco at college last week: he's back to his reclusive ways more than ever, with nightmares and conversing with his fridge again. Not healthy behaviour, as I'm sure you'll agree! On top of that, his mum wants to visit and see how he's getting on. Satou is, as Misaki points out at one point, a hopeless liar so he has to come up with some interesting ruses to fool his mum during her visit in th...

Excellent episode, I must say! This is a great improvement from the last. This has gotten me much more interested in the series now. Satou’s history with Kashiwa and their reunion was very interesting. It was shown in a pretty serious manner, which was good, unlike episode 4 where everything was just stupid. And yes, [...]

It seems that Victor, the same company that produced Haruhi CDs, is also putting out the NHK ni Youkoso music and this time, there is an official soundtrack. The band Pearl Kyoudai (Pearl Brothers) composed the music for the series and it was interesting to hear the BGM with lyrics. I think what the band [...]

Although it's not nearly the "best" series airing at the moment, I often watch Welcome to the NHK! as soon as its downloaded. I have the first 6 episodes of Bokura Ga Ita stocked up, another four of Legend of the Galactic Heroes and even the most recent Honey & Clover- but it seems (whether I like it or not) NHK! comes first. It's not that I find it easy to watch - it's actually the opposite, Satou scares me. His deluded fantasies, wild pipe dreams and attempts to cover up his "NEET" life style are morbidly close to t..

I am starting to feel the crunch now as my backlog grows longer and my real life gets busier. I think some backlog trimming needs to be done and I'm going to decide what series I won't cover anymore over the weekend. I'll most likely continue series that I'm up to date with and a few others which I will select over the next few days. Also, if you're looking for the next episode of Honey and Clover, I'll put up the screenshots as soon as I can get the raw. For some reasons, getting a raw for this week's episode is really hard. There is only one provider and the person's connection is unreliable. Anyway, enough talking about other series. This is actually a really good episode which places its focus on various reasons that turns people to withdraw from society. This is actually the point where I start to like the series because it stops making jokes about Satou's condition and starts addressing the issues that caused him to become a Hikikomori.

This is an interesting episode in which Satou has a quick break from the scenario writing and tries to overcome his fear of the outside world: he winds up going to college! Admittedly he has ulterior motives (i.e. seeing if Yamazaki really does have a girlfriend who studies there) but it is a step in the right direction, right? Right...? I really enjoyed the early scene with Misaki, in which she clearly shows that she doesn't have as much of a gra...

Ah, so the producers seemed to have heard my prayers, and have done the continuation of the chat, just that it was slighly modified a tad bit to make it expanded into two episodes. In fact, for this episode, The issues discussed are pretty incisive, probably on par with the manga.
Despite the more or less [...]

Impressions:
Well, the story is progressing quite well and it’s all very interesting, but the characters were drawn horribly. Satou and Yamazaki didn’t have nose for a lot of the time and at one point looked like old men. There was one part where they were drawn intentionally distorted, which was quite funny. The designers also [...]

It has been 4 years and 4 months since the last time Satou and Hitomi talked to each other. Satou finds out that she is currently gets prescriptions from three hospitals. He admits to her that he is a hikikomori and that he was shopping for anime goods in Ahikabara. They reminsice and wonder [...]

“Welcome to the Project”
I cannot believe that I watched this, a television program with a guy fantasising about a girl dressed as a nun masturbating, on the train. Sitting next to my mother. Who had down her reading to see what I was watching. She then proceeded to watch the rest of the episode with [...]

I know it's not been long since I last blogged this and there are other series that haven't been updated in ages but after the ending of ep #4 I just couldn't resist...it turns out that this instalment is the most enjoyable since the opener all those weeks ago. After a short flashback scene that makes great use of simple dialogue and subtle metaphors (check out the boiling kettle!), we see the meeting between Satou and his former sempai from high ...

This episode of NHK was done pretty well compared to the others that I've seen thus far, the artwork was consistant and didn't turn into that horrible mess that we saw last episode. I'm not even going to put a picture link to that crap, lets put it behind us. It feels like NHK's been [...]

This episode proved to be a lot more insightful into the lives and character of everyone in the show. It adds that much needed depth to each of the characters that makes them so unique and intruiging to watch.
Starting where we left off last week, Satou meets up with Kashiwa sempai, and they have tea [...]

This is a nice, introspective look at all of the characters from the series. It's in this episode the writers reveal that Satou is not the only character with a problem. While his problem is quite serious, other people around him also have equally disturbing problem. I have to admit though that at times this series is a bit hard to follow mostly because of its animation style. While this episode is a mark improvement from last week, in general the series don't look as good as its manga counterpart. The only thing that draws me back to this is the storyline. This episode is a good example of this. While it's been a slow process, it seems thing will change a little bit for Satou from here on. It also makes me wonder if you can call someone a Hikikomori when he/she actually interacted with at least 3 people on a regular basis?
