With the summer season of anime underway I've decided that I'll do a preview of sorts. I'll watch the first episode of a new series and do a short writeup of my thoughts. I'll also give things a score, even though I don't really like doing that. It's basically the same thing that Anime News Network does, except not nearly as useful since you're only getting one opinion of the shows instead of several. Plot synopses will be taken from MyAnimeList.net. With that out of the way, let's get this thing started.
Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi

Review: Ookami and Ringo are members of the Otogi Bank, a club in Otogi High School that assists students with their problems in return for their assistance on a different problem at a later date; thus the Otogi Bank is effectively a loan institute for problems where you can take out a loan for a solved problem but you have to repay it sooner or later.
I honestly have no idea what this show is trying to be. I think it might be trying to be a romance show, or maybe a moe fanservice thing. What I do know is that it is a completely mediocre, forgettable show. Honestly, I can't even remember any of the characters names, not that you need to remember any names since every character is identifiable by their archetype. We've got a tsundere bitch, a loli, a maid, a spineless wimp lead male who likes the tsundere bitch, a mad scientist loli, a loli who was only on screen for a few seconds, and two other characters who don't even really have personalities. But hey, I guess if you like tsunderes or lolis then Ookami-san has something for you.
I think what this show is really trying to be is a comedy, not that it accomplishes that very well. Its main method of trying to be funny is by having an annoying narrator pipe in during every scene to point out why whatever is going on is supposed to be funny, or pointing out fanservice in the show. They try to extract more humour out of this by having the characters be able to hear her, so when she points out that tsundere bitch has a flat chest and apologizes for the terrible fanservice she glares angrily at the camera, and this happens more than once. By the end of the episode you'll surely want to strangle this narrator.
There's nothing that this show manages to do right. The characters are bland and uninteresting, it isn't funny at all, and what few action scenes it has are just dull and poorly executed. This series really gets off to a very poor start and anybody can already guess how it will end, tsundere bitch and the spineless male lead who likes her will get together by the end of the series, with lots of "humorous" happenings along the way . You can easily skip this one.
