KOTOKO's new anime tunes of 2008 is finally here! Though for now in the form of bite-sized treats; you will have to wait until next month for the CD single release to listen to these at full force. I'd like to stress a bit more on the "finally here" bit as there was this collective gutted feeling from Nico Nico denizens when the new OP/ED themes did not make its debut last week, nor the week before, and all wondering (including yours truly) "WHEN THE HELL WILL IT ARRIVE ALREADY?" And with great reason, really; the anticipation of a new KOTOKO song is always quite the pious state of events. Her previous song from the first Shakugan no Shana series, "being", was an instant KOTOKO classic and heavily revered as her best anime song to-date. It had set the bar so incredibly high that many would feel the new pair of tunes tied-in to the same familiar franchise would match (or even dare exceed) that high-calibre. As far as the new OP is concerned, with a musical luminary such as Kazuya Takase at the helm, how can it not be excellent? C.G mix, on the otherhand, has always been a bit of a hit or miss to me and his last collaborative effort with KOTOKO was more of a broken happy hardcore track rather than the melodious I'VE tunes we've become accustomed to. He is back again with KOTOKO to create the new ED theme.(Personally, I'd like to see KOTOKO team up with Tomoyuki Nakazawa more since those two have produced some OUTSTANDING music in the past~)Well, enough yap... here are the Shana II OP2/ED2 videos taken from JP YouTube. OP: “BLAZE” by KOTOKO - Woah! This one snuck up on me. The animation is great, and features a lot more fighting with Shana and the Bel Masque among others. Some of the other scenes hint towards some drama involving Kazumi. I love pretty much anything Kotoko, so the song itself is pretty pleasing.
