When I was staying in Osaka, I went for a trip to Nishinomiya, the home of Suzumiya Haruhi. I must say that now I understand why Kyon always so complained about the path to school. It's a long, long ascent, followed by a short flat road only to turn into a final steep slope. I wouldn't want to walk that everyday, but I'd definitely like to lay my feet there again one day. There are many more spots and angles that appeared in the anime that I missed, and there are some photos I'm not satisfied with and would like to retake one day. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. In past, there were some cases that somebody tried to get into the school building, so they put on a sign telling people that entering the school grounds is illegal unless you have some business there. And of course, taking photos on the grounds doesn't count. If you would like to climb the hill and have a look at the school that became the model for Kita High School in Suzumiya Haruhi series, it's better to do so either on Sunday or during the summer holiday, which start some time in mid-July and end on August 31, as far as I know. If you aren't there during the holiday and you can't go on Sunday for some reason, you should at least avoid the time when students go to school and when they leave. No matter what, I couldn't find any bench along the river, so I took a photo of the spot I thought was the right place. But I can't be 100% sure without the benches.Oh, the directions. Nishinomiya is located between Osaka and Kobe. Get on the Toukaidou line and get off at Sakurashukugawa Station, Nishinomiya Station or Koushienguchi Station. Follow the map after that. The local train that also appeared in the anime runs from Shukugawa Station to Kouyouen Station.
