Episode I-V of Umineko no Naku Koro ni, “fool’s mate”, begins with Battler matching up the deaths of Genji, Nanjo, and Chiyo with the sixth to eighth twilights in the inscription. (Incidentally, this confirms that 足 in the inscription indeed refers to the leg, not the foot, which makes me puzzle about the redundant [...]

As much as I don’t care about the original visual novel, I have to admit that this episode stretched even my suspense of disbelief. Battler just acted way too weird in this episode, it just doesn’t make any sense.
So basically, the bodies continue to fall when Natsuhi commits suicide. Butterflies then appear again, Battler [...]

Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. >.< I’m so freakin’ late am I? I could’ve skipped blogging this episode but there’s a lot of things that I want to say/speculate/fangirl about this episode. Argghh, I blame myself for being such a busy and lazy person. T_T
And yeah, I loved the episode so much with mixed [...]

Do I look innocent now?
This episode taught me not to jump on early conclusions…At the beginning of the episode the ones that have survived find Eva dead in her room along with her husband who’s in the bathtub (dead as well). In the room’s door there is the first magic circle of Moon that opens every locked door, according to Maria. The thing that made me laugh was that when George hugged his dead mother’s body he dove right into her breasts (with no real hesitation). In the room, they ...

They so plan on cheating for this series! The moment I saw them kill Kanon off, I knew our characters could not be really dead or at least not dead for long and then I heard Maria mention that on the last day nobody is alive, but at the same time we’ll be seeing the [...]

Oh man, that episode was awesome. Battler continues to be an awesome protagonist, and the other character are starting to shine as well. With one episode left to go for this arc, looks like they're reserving the major mindf*** moments for the finale.

Episode: Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 4
I will make it short today, because I'm dead tired. A lot of things happened in this episode, though. So let's get on to it quickly. The episode starts where the previous ended. All the remaining people are looking at the atrocious scene in the room that Eva and Hideyoshi went to rest in. George breaks down after seeing his parents dead and says he will kill those behind it.Battler and Jessica back in parlor are trying to figure out how the latest crime occured. Maria then joins that conversation saying that it was proof about existence of magic, which Beatrice gave him. Maria makes Battler angry and she punches her for the way she's been talking and reasoning. After that, Maria explains what the scribble on that door was. She says it's the First Magic Circle of the Moon. And the text is from the Old Testament, Psalm 107:16. It can open any door.Kanon and Kumasawa are looking for source of a terrible smell some moments later. Kanon enters the boiler room, where he sees golden butterflies. After some shouting that he will stop Beatrice, he lays down on the floor. However, he dies some few minutes later. Others finds the source of the smell, Kinzou's burnt corpse in the furnace. The remaining living go to hide in Kinzou's study, which should be the safest room in the mansion. There they discuss about the epitaph. They talk about Kinzou's research into black magic and that Kinzou really had a lover called Beatrice. Genji says that she is dead though, and Kinzou has devoted his life to finding a way to resurrect her.Battler asks if Kinzou had a secret child with Beatrice, but gets a negative answer. But Jessica then says that he contributed a lot of money to an orphanage and used some of its children for black magic experiments. There suddenly appears another letter from Beatrice on the table. Natsuhi points her gun at Genji, Kumasawa, Nanjo, and Maria, because noone else, from the 8 people in the study, could lay it there, as she explains. The 4 people are driven out of the study.Battler finds the meaning of magic circle in that letter after searching in Grandfather's books. Its effect is: "Discord. Fan up internal divisions, and make the enemies destroy themselves." They realize it must have been a trick to divide them. Right at that moment, the supposedly not working phone is ringing. All they can hear is just Maria singing a song though. They immediately leave the room and head downstairs... where they see Nanjo, Genji, and Kumasawa with disfigured faces and gouged knee, stomach, and leg, respectively.I think this episode was done quite well, and I'm really looking forward to the first end, which will come next episode. The number of sacrifices according to the epitaph was satisfied, after all. They left a lot of time, one whole episode, for the very ending, so I'm sure it will be very interesting. Those who've read the visual novel know what I mean, don't they? Well then, let's look forward to it.

07/24/2009 03:30 AM UTCUmineko no Naku Koro ni, episode 4 – Maria is just one crazy loli >>
So we got some answers to a few questions this week, like is everyone oblivious to Maria or do they just think she's mondo weird? (the latter) How did Eva and Hideyoshi die? Where is Kinzo? And also some answers to questions that no one was thinking of, like does Jessica have a thing for Kanon? (who knew) And what's the deal with George's Oedipus complex?

Back for another week, Umineko no Naku Koro ni continues to surprise me yet again. Let’s waste no time and get into the meat of this thing, since there’s plenty of ground to cover.
The episode opens up with the remaining survivors discovering the corpses of Eva and Hideyoshi. George is of course the most affected [...]

In episode I-IV of Umineko no Naku Koro ni, “blunder”, everyone had come to see the room where Eva and Hideyoshi were killed. George grieves over the death of his parents, swearing that he would kill whoever was responsible. Not only did he lose the woman he loved the previous day, but now [...]

You know, despite the supposed details that are left out from the original Umineko, I’m really enjoying this series. Even Maria is getting better if we consider her as the culprit, or one thing very much related to the culprit, but that’s where the mystery comes in: perhaps she has a very good reason to [...]

Episode 2
The second episode continues to show promise and finally we get some violence (I sound morbid)! I have to say, I was pretty impressed that they killed off six characters in one episode, especially since there is only 18 characters in total that we know of at least. Out of the 6 characters that [...]
