Episode: Usagi Drop Episode 3
Last episode on Usagi Drop, Daikichi decided to call up Rin’s mother and, I dunno, chat with her? I am not seeing how this will possibly end well. I mean, best case scenario, she is like “yeah I took off because I wanted to enjoy my youth, have fun raising my child! toodles”. And then [...]

Episode: Usagi Drop Episode 5
30-year-old bachelor businessman Kawachi Daikichi encounters Rin, a girl he's never seen before, at his grandfather's funeral. Surprisingly, the 6-year-old girl turns out to be his grandfather's love child. Daikichi doesn't like children, but the cold attitude of his relatives towards Rin makes him uncomfortable - so when the time comes for the relatives' meeting to decide who will have custody of Daikichi finds himself volunteering...
The first of this season's noitaminA shows, Usagi Drop nails it on just about every front: it's miles away from the usual fanboy pandering that so many shows are these days, it's a fairly accurate reflection of the problems that come with raising young children and the impact that having them around can have on your life, and there's a decent other story in there around Rin's mother as well. In short, it's the best show of the summer season so far. That said, a lot of that appeal may come from my being a father to two young children myself - all the things that Daikichi's finding out and nearly forgetting, I've been through as well. Would the series work as well for people who don't have those experiences behind them? I don't know, to be honest.
THE GOOD: Strong characters, believable story, realistic depiction of the problems of raising a kid, all done in an entertaining and heartwarming way.
THE BAD: Sorry, I've got nothing.
Damned near perfect, at least as far as I've seen so far (up to episode 5). Definitely worth watching.

Episode: Usagi Drop Episode 5
Raising a child is a difficult endeavor, and only parents seems to have the power to withstand its implications. But sometimes, it can fall into a rather indifferent views. In this case, Rin mother falls into that “She’s too young to be a mother” bandwagon, that she hasn’t able to grasp the circumstances she is on. There are a lot of tell-tell signs around [...]

“Am I raising Rin or is she raising me?”~ ~Total cliche quote I took from the last bit of the episode but, it fits. Anyways, I’ve been hearing a lot of people have spoiled Usagi Drop for themselves because of that bastard Wikipedia, who has spoiled other series for me as well. I came close [...]

As I’m rushed for time, I will just post a quick summary of what occured in this episode, and my thoughts also. This episode goes into detail about how Diachi meeting Rin’s mother, and learning that she is a manga writer. I thought that Rin looked cute with twin tails in this episode, and I [...]

I love what I'm seeing in Usagi Drop so far... I really do. It's heartwarming and there are some really sweet moments too. However, my love for it is dwindling because I "accidentally" read about the ending of Usagi Drop manga. The ending was way beyond my expectation and it was the only thing I hoped would never happen, and sadly, it did. Since there will only be 11 episodes of Usagi Drop anime, I think and HOPE that the ending of the manga will not be animated. Seriously, just because of this big spoiler I "accidentally" read, I'm starting to hate it. Why must such a sweet series end that way?! What's Hot?- I can relate to Rin and her fear of deaths. I remember having the same fear when I was in kindergarten. What's Not?- I like the anime so far but I HATE the manga ending!

「ダイキチはダイキチでいい」 (Daikichi wa Daikichi de Ii)
“Daikichi Should Stay Daikichi”
I remember when I had nightmares as a little kid, and the space between Mom and Dad became the safest place to be. That made it pretty damn hilarious when Rin took comfort in her stuffed bunny instead of with Daikichi.

08/06/2011 01:04 AM UTC[anime] Usagi Drop Ep 4 ~ Awwww!!! He’s family to her!!!! >>
AWWWWWW!! Look at them holding hands!!! I think the most significant development in this episode is that Daikichi realises how important he is to Rin. As that lady says, she sees him as family…someone she can trust and rely on. It’s interesting how Daikichi doesn’t quite present himself as a fatherly figure or more like [...]

Daikichi meets Rin’s mom, and takes another step at becoming a father-like figure to Rin. I’m a little amazed at how Usagi Drop can take a simple scene and infuse it with so much soul. We hear Rin sobbing like a little puppy in the middle of the night, which wakes Daikichi. He reassures her [...]

It has been a while since I last read the manga for Usagi Drop, but the anime does seem to do it justice. A 30-year old single guy (Daikichi) decides to take care of his deceased grandfather’s illegitimate child (Rin) since no one else in his family wanted to do it. We get to see [...]

I never thought I’d feel sympathy for Masako. After all, she was the one who abandoned Rin and left her alone with no one to look after her. But after finally meeting her, seeing who she is, and learning about her situation, I don’t feel that way anymore. She’s actually not a bad person. We [...]
