At least we didn’t have any eyes spontaneously glowing in this episode! This was a bit of a disappointing episode, but still enjoyable and worth watching. This series I heard the news recently that this series is officially going to have 26 episodes! I’m so excited to see how the plot runs out, considering the [...]

Vampire Knight: The 1st Night
Night of the Vampires
I’ve always found something glamorous about Gothic romanticism, there’s something in the aesthetic that is really cool. I will watch Vampire Knight just for all the music and the art. Let me explain.
It’s [...]

Episode: Vampire Knight Episode 2
This is a rather nice gothic PV that features cello, chains, praying mantis, voyeuristic old man, and of course, a gothic lolita. The girl who sings the song, Wakeshima Kanon, was apparently found by Malice Mazer's singer, Mana. As a result, her image in the PV is influenced by their Gothic-Victorian style. In a lot of ways, the PV reminds me of ALI PROJECT and their various Rozen Maiden OP and ED theme. It's also interesting to know that the lyrics have this purposely stunted style to it so that it reflects the song title. Thanks to its creepiness, the song becomes a perfect ED theme for Vampire Knight.

Vampire Knight is one of the shows I am enjoying this season. But it is a little hard to keep the various members of the "night class" straight. So I have translated the official site's characters page, adding a pic of each seiyuu.Click here or on the image to go to the full page:I don't want to put too much emphasis on this, but it struck me as I looked at the official site that all the main creative staff on this show are women. The director is Sayama Kiyoko. This is her first full series, but she did storyboarding and direction for episodes of Princess Tutu, Saber Marionette J, Blood+, Aria the Natural, etc. The lead writer is Okada Mari, who did work on Simoun, and was lead writer on true tears, Sketchbook, Kodomo no Jikan, etc. The mangaka is Hino Matsuri. And the character designer is Nishida Asako, who was character designer/animation director on Fate/Stay Night, Simoun, and Touka Gettan. Check out her home page, especially the gallery. One more staff note: the sound director is Gouda Houzumi, who also is the VA for the headmaster. It seems Studio Deen likes VAs as sound directors: Tsujitani Kouji was sound director of Simoun and F/SN (he was Tanda in Seirei no Moribito).

Sometimes, I wonder if I watch anime for the right reasons. For most of the people who watch Vampire Knight, they are in either for the story (which is good or bad depending on whether you are a Kaname or Zero fan, or that whether you are a manga reader or not) or the nice [...]

I started watching Vampire Night recently and at the start of the anime things started to get a little like "ouran host club" with the Vampires of the night class acting like male hosts to the huge fans of Day Class Girls.

Vision of the Past™ shows a little girl being terrorized by a vampire. As the vampire is about to suck her blood, but another (albeit more handsome) vampire kills him, saving the little girl.
I'm not too sure about this 'in the middle of a forest during a blizzard' setting.

Episode: Vampire Knight Episode 1
This episode takes a slight nosedive in the animation department. There are moments where the face of the characters looks a bit off. I guess that's to be expected since despite the adapted design is still quite complex that a minor difference can be easily spotted. One thing that this series continues to impress me, however, is the soundtrack. This episode features a gregorian-chant-like soundtrack halfway through the episode and I thought it really fits the mood of the story. Story-wise, things seem to move faster than I thought it will. But this is probably a good thing since they have a lot to cover and at the most, the animators probably only have 24 episodes to go. This, however, makes me wonder as to how they'll end the series. Will they leave it hanging until the manga is completed? Or will they create a 'life goes on' ending like Fruits Basket? As a side note, I'm sorry for the lack of full summary for the time being. I'd add them as soon as I can in the next 12 hours.

I wanted to post this before the second episode aired but the Internet wouldn't let me. *shrugs* Delayed or not, this first impressions, What about that Zero x Yuki bathroom scene? commentary on Vampire Knight anime episode one is GO! But before continuing, let me set up my caveats (the not-so hidden premises that underpin my less-than substantial ramblings) and warnings: 1) I read the manga; 2)

According to the official website for the Vampire Knight anime, a new original novel within the series’ world was released on the same day as the 7th volume of the manga (April 5th).
The novel features Aido-senpai (as opposed to the actual main characters), and the novel’s title is Vampire Knight: Ice Blue no Tsumi (or [...]

ON/OFF - Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi (video-ripped MP3, 2MB)
Even though the song's lyrics suggest a rather scandalous situation between two characters in the series, I really hope that I'm wrong about the two characters that I had in mind. Anyway, if you don't know what I'm talking about, just ignore what I said up above but if you do and want to discuss it, please use the spoiler tag. The reason I'm doing this (even though the PV is not even out yet) is because I can't get the song out of my head and I can't stop playing the OP on my PSP. Maybe if I do an entry on it, I can get it out of my system. Besides, I wanted to do a full screencaps of the OP and I couldn't really do that in the episodic entry. While I haven't seen every single OP title out there, I think Vampire Knight's OP title is one of the best that I've seen so far. Granted, it's not fully animated but I don't think a good OP title needs to be fully animated to be effective and attractive. Sometimes the lack of detailed motions can be more exciting than fully-animated ones because what one's brain can imagine is a lot more stronger than what can be shown on-screen.
