Everyone is so muscular and buff! Welcome to another animation version of the X-Men! And the first episode from Madhouse studios and Marvel this season; can they pull off this better than Wolverine and Iron Man? So far, I would say they are closer with this project than the previous two. Thankfully the trailer lives [...]

Wolverine really like BAMF here unlike the previous Madhouse "Wolverine" who look too pretty for my taste. Set 1 year after the Dark Phoenix arc, the team is tasked to find a missing mutant in Japan. Voice acting is alright and art is stupendous for 1st episode. Music wise is bit too mellow, I was hoping for faster tempo music to be honest. Will follow this series with interest. <script type="text/javascript">var addthis_pub="stormy001";</script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/200/addthis_widget.js"></script>anime

Nichijou
Short Synopsis: Our lead character is a random schoolgirl.
There’s no shortage of creativity in Nichijou. Its entire premise is based around the fact that it’s about the every day lives of a group of random school girls who live in a world in which anything can happen. This episode shows random explosions, androids and [...]

Short Synopsis: Our lead characters are a bunch of mutants who fight crime.
That was actually… pretty amazing here. Seriously, this episode hit a ton of right buttons, and sets the X-Men already one step higher above Wolverine. The graphics were utterly gorgeous, the atmosphere is just awesome, and already this show has put in [...]

Bodies like that cannot be healthy. Impressions: Why do I bother? Oh right, to laugh at these character designs. Good lord. When Kotobukiya introduced the world to their Marvel Bishoujo line, I immediately thought that Psylocke was an obvious choice for that series. She’s Asian, she’s hot, she doesn’t wear many clothes, she’s a perfect match. Kotobukiya took their time announcing her, but announce her they did and while I was thrilled, my happiness [...]

What a terrible way to start off the morning. Anyone who has listened to the squadcast recently knows that AHR and I are pretty big fans of Del Rey's X-men: Misfits Manga. An OEL (original English language) manga, Misfits revamped the series to follow a decidedly more romantic comedy vibe, as Kitty Pryde finds she's the only girl at Xaiver's School for Gifted Individuals. This was fine and all, apparently the first volume even made the New York Times Graphic Books Bestseller List for several weeks, but that seemingly won't keep the series in print. The news came straight from a candid question at the creator's tables, Misfits fans were warned not to look forward to next volume, because she has no idea if/when it'll ever come out. Of course, Deb at Manga.About.com got her sleuthing hat on. Talking with Raina Telgemeier and husband/collaborator Dave Roman, they had this to say on the matter... Wow! News travels fast! @goraina and I super disappointed since it was written as a 2-part story and it will be unfair to readers. We only found out last week. We still don't have a lot of the details beyond it being a cost of licensing vs. profits issue. :/ I only saw about 20 pages of Book 2 pencils a few months back so I assumed Anzu was far along, but still deep into it. Those are the emotions that I keep going through regarding Misfits. Confusion then disappointment. Most successful non-success. And thus you are up to speed. Raina said they would have more to say later, but I can't help but feel confused, and slightly abandoned. This, of course, presumably means the Wolverine: Prodigal Son series is also on the chopping block, though I didn't actually like that one. Misfits seemed fairly successful, so one can only speculate on what else must be going on behind the curtain. The most likely culprit is, of course, licensing issues with the Marvel IPs. This seems all the more likely if we just set our way back machine to remember how Disney bought Marvel late summer. Anyways, check out Deb's blog for her entire findings.

I clearly must have missed something because I didn’t expect this to be about super powers. I like super powers. However, I don’t really like dull intrigue or shows that spend half their time sitting around talking about dull intrigue. The fact that this super team also has very ill [...]

Well, what are motions comics? Marvel says this: ‘’if the pages of Marvel Comics could move, what would they look like? Remaining true to the heritage of panel-by-panel graphic storytelling, boasting groundbreaking graphics, sensational soundscapes and, of course, the explosiveness of the Mighty Marvel Universe, here comes the all-new, all-awesome Marvel Motion!’’ So I guess motion comics are comics panels in motion. Here are two motion comics trailers, for Spider-Woman and Astonishing X-Men. If you like what you see, go buy them from http://marvel.com/motion_comics. I remember some old Namor motion ...

Filed under news that really doesn't excite me: Hugh Jackman confirms that a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine is in the works. When the licensed video game attached to your summer blockbuster is better than the film itself, you know you've got a problem, Hugh...I'll just hold out for your musical role as Barnum in an upcoming, Mika-written musical, and keep telling myself that hey, you have to pay the bills. Mmkay? I know a lot of you guys play Rock Band, but how many of you still play it's older, but slightly less group-friendly brother Guitar Hero? Granted, it's still guitars-only, but there are some new special features, like the ability to play almost all of your Guitar Hero World Tour tunes in GH5, or copy them from the Guitar Hero: Smash Hits discs for a nominal fee. There will also be some interesting mini-games and other new toys, as well as just solid, classic Guitar Hero.Ryan got to chit-chat with a couple of the project guys on Guitar Hero, so definitely check out the videos. Here's the first (of two): <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" id="gb_player" align="middle" height="360" width="640"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"> </param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"> </param><param name="movie" value="http://www.giantbomb.com/video/video.swf"> </param><param name="quality" value="high"> </param><param name="flashvars" value="paramsURI=http%3A//www.giantbomb.com/video/params/1163/?w=1"> </param><param name="videoURI" value="http://media.giantbomb.com/video/vf_guitarhero5_int_080709.flv"> </param><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"> <embed wmode="transparent" src="http://www.giantbomb.com/video/video.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#000000" name="gb_player" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="paramsURI=http%3A//www.giantbomb.com/video/params/1163/?w=1" align="middle" height="360" width="640"> </embed></param><param value="transparent" name="wmode"></param></object> And just because I love it so... GB's Fat Princess review. (4 stars out of 5!)Right-o, then! Here on Vice, one of yesterday's most popular articles was, of course, the one with the big picture of the girl showing off her panties. But a much more interesting article is John's, which covers the oft-ignored values of repetition in anime series, specifically Revolutionary Girl Utena. You should read and comment on that one instead. Speaking of yesterday: how many of you watched some free anime at the Anime Network online for Lazy Day?
