Episode: Zero no Tsukaima Episode 2
I finially got around to watching Zero no Tsukaima, and I have good news: it’s not just a harry potter ripoff. Sure, it takes place at a magical academy, and it has girls and boys, but that’s about it. This series is funny, let me tell you. I’m seeing some potential for a good story [...]

We discover how Saito was lured from Earth. What is it with characters sticking their fingers in giant liquid blobs, I mean seriously you’re only asking for trouble, ‘Event Horizon’ anyone?
Pretty…

I think I'll be placing an order for this from my usual source soon... Sigh, I hope I don't overspend this month. I just passed ¥8,000 to Kwok last night so that he can pick some stuff up for me in Japan. He's probably preparing to leave for the airport by now...
Zero no Tsukaima is [...]

We now turn to the second batch of summer-anime. These were the shows which were the most hyped for the summer-season.
Coyote Ragtime Show
This is a science-fiction action series which just oozes with style. The first episode was more focused on the side-characters, instead of the main characters, which means that we haven’t seen too [...]

The production quality wasn’t too shabby and we got a lot of borderline-to-medium amusing material. I can see a lot of good coming out of the premise, along with a lot of band. Nothing here’s truly original, but what do you expect in the year 2006?

In my Summer 2006 anime preview, I thought Zero no Tsukaima looked like an anime version of Harry Potter. I got a chance to look at the raw, and so far, the anime looks good. Here's my first peek at Zero no Tsukaima:

Opening: "First kiss" by ICHIKO - Yup, it's a Yoshiaki Iwasaki OP, the character names give it away (see Bottle Fairy or Sensei no Ojikan or Gokujou Seitokai). Anyways, I like it, shows off Louise's tsuntsuntsundereness well.
Ending: "Honto no kimochi" by Louise@Rie Kugimiya - Let's just go ahead and call this "The Tsundere Song" ;)

A very blantantly Harry Potter rip off setting and the Shana-esque voice cast is the distinguishing feature of this show. I mean… doesn’t the whole tsukaima summoning scene looks just like the first Quidditch class in Harry Potter 1? And man… everytime Louise speaks, I see her hair turning all red and her cape looks [...]

Zero no Tsukaima waste no time in trying to rake in money from figure collectors by launching a pretty impressive figure of Louise. I have not watched the first episode raw though. I’ll have to wait for the fansub version because deciding whether I want to get this figure or not.
But judging at the [...]
