Shukufuku no Campanella Score: 2.5/5 Review: Leicester Maycraft, item engineer belonging to the adventurer guild "Oasis", is at a party with his friends to see a meteor shower on the rooftop of a church. One meteor suddenly flies passed them, crashing into the steeple of the church. Upon investing, Leicester finds a secret room and a sleeping girl, who seems to think that Leicaster is her father. Shukufuku no Campanella gets off to a bit of a poor start. Right of the bat it establishes itself as a moe show filled with cute young girls exclaiming how cute things are, which seems to be a bit tired at this point, and then it slowly starts to reveal itself as a harem show. The male lead Leicester, is surrounded by a bevy of cute girls, at least three of whom openly admit to wanting to be his bride. Nothing much else happens in this episode, except for a girl mysteriously falling out of the sky at the end. If you've seen a lot of harem or moe shows before than this one probably doesn't offer anything new to you. Something that Shukufuku does have going for it, in my eyes at least, is that it takes place in a fantasy setting. Unfortunately it doesn't really utilize this fantasy setting in the first episode. Other than at the beginning when a performer puts on a show using small living dolls, it just feels like a generic medieval setting rather than a strange magical land like it should. The preview for the next episode does show the girls fighting a monster of some sort, so I have some hope for it. Overall, it's not a particularly good or bad show, just kind of mediocre. It's really just a generic moe harem show, which may be enough to scare you away from it. It does seem a lot better than some of the other shows I've checked out this season, and I'm going to watch a few more episodes to see where it goes.
