The Legend of the Legendary Heroes Score: 2/5 Review: While searching the ruins of Nelpha for relics, Ryner and Ferris are pursued by Lieutenant Milk of the Taboo-Breaker Pursuit Squadron. The trouble compounds when one of the relics is inadvertently activated. This show is pretty much just Slayers, except that the lead two characters are gender-swapped.  The mage this time around is a young man named Ryner, and the blonde haired swordsman this time is a woman named Ferris. We've even got an over-enthusiastic little girl showing up before the episode is over. Like Slayers the show is just a generic fantasy/comedy, with plenty of magic and swordfights strewn about, and gags that will surely get old after about ten episodes. So yeah, just like Slayers, just perhaps a bit lighter on the comedy. If you somehow aren't sick of Slayers yet then I don't see a reason why you wouldn't like Legend of the Legendary Heroes. If you haven't seen Slayers and want to give the fantasy/comedy thing a try then you might as well go with this series, because it not being well over a decade old means it has better production values than Slayers, which isn't much of an accomplishment really. I think my biggest problem with the show is that it actually tries to take itself seriously, and with a title like The Legend of the Legendary Heroes, it really shouldn't. That's about all I can say. The whole thing is a pretty generic affair, and isn't all that plot heavy. I didn't even bother reading half of what was being said and I didn't feel lost at all. It doesn't seem like it's worth the time to watch this series, I couldn't be bothered to watch the second episode and Funimation put them both up at the same time. The Legend of the Legendary Heroes is available streaming through Funimation.
