Book Man hopes to use HCLI's massive communications network by manipulating Koko in “Operation: Undershaft,” but not everyone in the CIA agrees with that plan. Hex is bent on killing Koko, but first she wants to make the woman suffer. Meanwhile, Karen - cut loose after Mr Chen's death at Valmet's hands - finds new employment from a rather unexpected source... Sort-of picking up from where the first season left off, at least in terms of the CIA's interest in Koko, this season gets off to a rather subdued start, with the focus more on fleshing out what the CIA are really after her for. There are also a few hints that Jonah's disdain for arms dealers, first mentioned way back in the opening episode of season one but all but forgotten about since then, may be about to become a real issue, with his appearances here all focussing on the negative feelings that he's beginning to harbour for Koko and his work. All of which means there's no time for action - it's just a lot of talking, and some interrogation / manipulation scenes that carry a huge amount of threat but don't get the adrenaline fired up. And I'd kind of come to expect adrenaline rushes from Jormungand. This was still a damn good episode, though, doing a nice job of tying events from the previous season into the developing story for this season ('Operation Undershaft' is going to be a major theme for at least the first arc, it seem), and by the end of it I was hardly feeling that it had been off-air for three months. THE GOOD: The characters we know and enjoy, getting back into their groove, and enjoying themselves in the process. Some hints at possible interesting developments again, if the story unfolds as I hope it will. THE BAD: Not really finding anything so far, to be honest... Very much in the "Welcome back, old friend..." category, is Jormungand. Good to see more of it, and looking forward to the rest of the season. Jormungand: Perfect Order is streamed by FUNimation (North America only).
