A new chapter of Claymore to start off 2009:The "demons" are not awakened beings, and there is more than one of them. Meanwhile, Deneve and Helen battle against Isley in the village.Full summary: Dietrich is still hiding behind the tree as the "demons" turn into their humanoid forms. All the "demons" turn into very tall females with pieces of armour sparsely placed on their bodies and they have their eyes and mouth sewn shut. As Dietrich is peeking over the tree, one of the "demons" appear right in front of her. Dietrich is frozen in fear as the "demon" turns its attention to her. The "demon" sniffs Dietrich a bit and then moves on. As the "demons" move away, Dietrich lets out a breath of relief but also notes that another village is probably in trouble.Back in the village, Helen and Isley are battling it out in full force with no concern for collateral damage. Helen employs guerrilla techniques but using the falling rubble as a screen. Helen manages to hit Isley several times with powerful attacks, but Isley is showing no signs of weakening. Helen realizes that she's in big trouble and notes that she probably won't survive the fight. Isley counterattacks with some appendages, but he misses as Helen is knocked out of the way by the recovered Deneve. Deneve explains that she has released most of her yoki to regenerate and can't suppress it right now, she tells Helen to run while she holds Isley off. However, Helen is not the type to abandon her best friend and so she releases much of her yoki as well. Helen and Deneve then face against Isley once again.Meanwhile, the group of "demons" has arrived on the outskirts of the village and are salivating in their mouths. The "demons" have arrived at their destination: an all-you-can-eat buffet of tasty villagers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~So the "demons" turn out to be something other than awakened beings, and there is a whole group of them. If they are not awakened beings then that means they are probably not the Organization's creations. Perhaps they are the "other force", the so called "dragon kin" on the large warring continent that fights against the side that the Organization represents. Or they might something completely out of the blue... nobody really knows other than the author. The situation is certainly getting more and more intriguing with the introduction of these new monsters. The demons' arrival will probably interrupt the fight between the Northern Campaign survivors and Isley, and perhaps the three of them might even have to join forces. Helen actually did better than expected during her fight against Isley. The feisty former Claymore landed some pretty big hits on the Abyssal One. Of course Helen is still no match for Isley, but the fact that she was able to keep him at bay for a while shows how much she has improved.I really look forward to the next chapter now as we'll (hopefully) get our first look at the demons in action. I hope that the author doesn't decide to cut to another storyline, because that would be terribly disappointing.
