Kaworu and Rei try to rescue Toji, Hikari, and Kensuke while Shinji and Asuka pursue the angel in the virtual world.Summary:In a dark bedroom, two angels in their human bodies reunite with each other.Inside the academy, Toji and Hikari are peek from behind the door as the hologram of the angel emerges from the computer screen and caresses Kensuke. The angel spots Toji and Hikari and the two try to run, but they are cornered by several students who are under the angel's control. Meanwhile, Kaworu and Rei are making their way to the computer lab and Kaworu has a bad feeling about what's going on.It's plug suits/the dancing attire all over again.Back at NERV headquarters, Shinji and Asuka are sent into the MMORPG to pursue the angel from the virtual side. Misato warns Shinji and Asuka that injuries from the virtual reality may translate into injuries to their real bodies, so the two of them should be careful. Now inside the virtual world, Asuka warns Shinji not to slow her down. At her virtual throne room, the angel has detected Asuka and Shinji's intrusion and dispatches some soldiers to deal with the two.Rei and Kaworu have arrived at the school and are trying to fight off the students who have fallen under the angel's influence. The fight is made tougher by the fact that Kaworu and Rei don't want to hurt the students, but they have to knock them out somehow. A student swings a club at Rei from her blindside, and Kaworu has to block the blow with his arm and knock out the attacker. Rei apologizes for being careless but Kaworu reassures Rei that he is okay. Half way down the hallway, a confused Kaji is wondering why the students are fighting each other and he realizes that he has stumbled onto something bizarre. Suddenly Kaji notices two figures standing behind him. After defeating the nearby students, Kaworu senses another angel nearby but fails to locate it.Cheater!!! You can't use a gun in a medieval RPG!Back in the virtual world, Shinji and Asuka has made short work of the first wave of enemies. Shinji remembers that they have been briefed about bugs in the game and warns Asuka to not be hasty, but Asuka doesn't listen and marches forward and falls into a deep hole in the ground.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We finally got to see some action after several chapters of (somewhat boring) setup. It looks like NERV's virtual reality equipment received an upgrade, and Shinji and Asuka are seeing something that resembles a town rather than just looking at grids and blocks. On Kaworu and Rei's front, it's interesting that Kaworu detected another angel, which seem to be the two mystery people from the beginning of the chapter. It looks like angel(s) may have taken Kaji with them so the NERV crew may have another mission on their hands really soon. Anyways, the story is starting to pick up in pace which is always welcome especially for a usually "slow" series such as this.
